If the fees are reasonable, I will pay for it if I need to access it that badly. Otherwise I just pay for concert tickets.

ONA Piano as part of the "4 CDs"? Great album, but we already had that. ONA Live was a single project, albeit with 2 discs.

Folks were not picking nits. Expectations were for 4 CDs. A lossy download or two does not a CD make.

Prince fucked people over. Took their money and fucked them over.

Some see it your way. Some don't.

Some will buy into Purple promises unfulfilled. Some have learned a valuable Purple lesson.

I'm afraid you're getting your facts wrong: One Nite Alone was always going to be part of the 4 CDs included for the year's membership. The question up in the air was what the remaining three were going to be. Folks started speculating that it would be Xenophobia, The Best Of, and Last December because of what was printed in the ONA tourbook, but the NPGMC never confirmed or denied those one way or another. So we ended up with ONA...Live (which is actually 3 discs, not 2). That may not have been what people were expecting (I was a little disappointed myself) but the guarantees were met.

Actually my facts are correct. I was referring to the additional ONA piano included in the box set, not the one that we had already received. ONA Live was 2 discs, It Aint Over was one disc unto itself.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

OK then, that wasn't clear. But still: we were promised 4 CDs, and between ONA and the 3 discs in the ONA...Live set, we got them. Again, may not have been what we were all expecting when we signed up, but you can't say that he didn't deliver.

I will pay "if the price is right" I have benefited from being a member in the past and paying for the priveledge - even when signing up to the original NPGMC meant $200 out of my pocket due to a struggling aussie dollar. Thankfully, those days are behind us now cause the aussie dollar is.... oh dear!

But yes I would pay if the offering was like it had been in the past - new exclusive tracks, access to the vault, exclusive cd offerings etc.

Some of say they are hardcore fans, but did you subscribe to the NPG magazine that just gone de-funk-t after a few copies??? And the $$$ go down the drain. No I'm not pissed just understand first what you are getting into. This is a business and it's about Prince getting paid for his work and he should get paid for his work but just remember.

In this economic downturn, this deal will have to be the sweetest ever (and if it's $77 thats a lot of entertainment money to 'most' people). The new site will have to include, some perks like: physical cds, unreleased music, good tickets, afterparty, soundchecks, streaming videos, chats, constant stream of news..etc. but the gravy is MUSIC, MUSIC and MORE MUSIC on physical cds to gain the attention of the majority of the fan base and IMO to survive.

Prince wants the $$$ for his lifesytle, which is fine. The main thing most fans care about is getting new music in excellent quality(FLAC or CD), most are more than willing to pay to gain access to unreleased music from the vault. If they are just going to offer streaming videos and the latest Larry G/associated artists mp3's, I just don't believe this will work for long. Even those saying 'no' at this point I believe some will sign up if the deal at least looks excellent.

Keep in mind. The fact: If Prince doesn't get the $$$..the site will die. $77 realy isn't much money for me and many here but I'm also not going to fund some site that I believe has no potential to survive or deliver the goods. Fact: don't believe 100% what is advertised. Remember the cds advertised in the ONA program that never hatched? Remember the 'lifetime' subscription to the NPGMC? Remember the Crystal Ball set that many preordered and then it shows up in stores before the mailbox? I'm saying don't believe the hype..I didn't feel ripped of by NPGMC but they really didn't do all they advertised. Not angry just saying thats the track record. At this point in time, nearing a depression - Prince will have to remember that many people are broke.

1000's are losing jobs every day. Personally it's just difficult for me to blindly give to a website that may not deliver or pay $250 for seats for a show (and thankfully for the most part P's tickets have been priced nice for the value over the years! I'm just saying like the Eagles or Fleetwood Mac they don't need $250 of your money when people are sucking D. to eat!).

It's difficult to just blindly give to the stronger hands at this point in time ya know??

I totally understand and even agree with what you said. Prince MUST bring it. He must. pray pray pray
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Agreed. He didn't say 4 ALBUMS. He said 4 CDS.

Not to mention, he made up for it by giving us C-NOTE, XPectation, and a couple of live trax (1+1+1is 3) from Paisley Park with Eric Leeds on sax.

lol

Prince would be better served not telling his fans anything. You may feel he made up for it. Others feel ripped off, even after all this time. Me personally, I tend not to care about that type of stuff and I dug getting the ONA set as part of my membership. Xpectation kicked ass. I loved it but when I hear someone is putting out 4 CDs, I don't think a box set, I think separate projects.

Yeah, and I don't wanna sound critical. I'm just a fan - that doesn't like to see things messed up. You know like they can get it right, learn from the CB fiasco and provide what they advertise.

I remember Prince at the ONA Washing DC soundcheck, he asked a few of us where we were sitting an the seats were scatted. Some people that bought thru ticketmaster had better tix than club members. Prince himself said the club could do a better job.

But the P, the lotus site should know that the people on the street - backs are against the wall. Music can uplift and hopefully they keep that in mind. If they get greedy like the Eagles or Fleetwood, I just can't give to the mouth with the silver spoon when people are losing it all. I do hope he brings on the charity because people will need help in the months ahead! People we are very close to a great depression part 2. Wake up and walk away from the org for a minute and read a newspaper.

Indeed he made up for it.

Now why would he do that if he wasn't in the wrong? Cuz you know Prince is just "cool" like that? lol

If it weren't for the fans involving the Better Business Bureau back then the club would have laughed in your face and given you ONA Live plus 2 times ONA Piano. When in fact they advertised 4 new Prince albums.

You're wrong about that, but go ahead keep thinking that you got ripped off if it makes you happy. And by all means, don't pay for membership on the new site.
Indeed, you probably shouldn't: if you're so mistrustful of Prince, doing so wouldn't be very smart, now would it?

I will sho' nuff pay. I'm in it for the long haul, and like all of you mentioned, sites have closed, his magazines now defunct and a lot of money has gone down the tubes. But, it is the nature of the business. Hopefully he will take under very strong consideration that his fans are feeling the money pinch big time, and will give a lot of perks for paying extra to access certain parts of the site. I'm definitely with you on that, because with the way the economy is we all need a break. boxed

No, it means that there will be a general price over all that you'll pay on his website, but then there will be certain buttons or spaces to click on where it will say, for a fee you can do this....or view that.....or downloand this or that. I've never heard of anything like it.

So let me get this straight. He will charge a base fee to access the site (let's just say $25 for now). Then, in order to access a different part of the site that will contain a video or song (ie download the latest video), you will pay to do that....right? Sounds like a regular site to me, just laid out differently.

ill pay for it...depending on how much it is will depend on when i will pay..but i will pay..

i had no prob with NPGMC i paid the $100 i got the box set and the xtra copy of ona piano.. if i would of sold that disc it would of got me my money back plus some.. i didnt join the years when they did the radio show and downloads because i was on a slow connection..

when he came to slc, ut the tix were cheaper and with out fee then the ticket seller.
i can understand why people dont want to join.. but alot of it has to do with when they joined the first tyme. if i would gotten burned so baddly i would be here saying screw that.. but i had good luck.

prince doesnt owe me anything and i gotten my moneys worth out of all the cds..so hopefully its a decent price .. hopefully he goes on tour.. hell he can do another stay in vegas again ill go out there tonight..

so 2 those who are joining c u soon.. 2 those who are not. u may be right..u may be wrong but i respect your choice and u should respect ours
