So by the same principle, if you've already been ordering from Pizza Hut for years, you should be getting it free now, right?

_____

I wouldn't equate music/art with pizza.....maybe prince does ? sad

It's a product.

I agree with whoever said it depends on the fee, and what the fee covers. If it's $77 for all three albums, plus little extra fun things to do, then yeah probably, that seems fair to me.

That's true. With my luck, he'll sell TCI and The Slaughterhouse on the site again. I don't need those tracks again. I've already purchased them twice.

I sure as hell won't be !! the majority of people who would want to access those areas would be long-time fans who have already paid thousands on prince 'product' and not casual you-tube type searchers looking for some 'hit' they heard on the radio....what a greedy git mad

I will be paying!
I AM a long-time Fan!
I do not feel that I have paid anywhere near THOUSANDS of dollars, however I am NOT one of those people that want to live with "free" Mp3's that are low quality.
I do not want to steal his work, therefore I will pay for the music.
I do enjoy what NPGMC brought to me and I feel that it paid for itself, so YES I was a member and YES I will pay again to be a member.
I will get access to things that non-payers wont have access to, and I will be happy about that.

Good Question.....let's see...Free Planet Earth Cd...£0..newspaper...sorry the paper cost £1.50...
Tickets to the 02 to see him was £31.21 not bad....very good value
21 Nights Book & CD ....£12.00 ...not bad...good value...

New Website & 3 Cd's ...middle of credit crunch....i'd say £ 21 - 30 as a guess ..I don't think Prince will charge anywhere near $77 or £54.00 pounds that would be too much...but i could be wrong...he's gonna charge around £30 or $44..that's my guess....for all 3 CD's and Website access

At that price most people would sign up...and grab the CD's... I don't think he just wants Fans or Fams...so the Price will be key...he wants new people to hear his stuff...for sure

cool

As far as the music being offered, I'd be more inclined if its not on that horrible MS Windows Media Player platform. I much preferred the earlier version of NPG Online LTD/NPGMC with the digital rights-free MP3s. I could never get those damn Windows Media Player files to burn to a CD and now they're just taking up space in my hardrive since the demise of the NPGMC.

The deal breaker will be any perqs for advance ticket purchase for live shows... now THAT is something NPGMC did very well, especially when they managed the whole process. Giving out a password for ticketbastard-managed sales would suck. But a NPGMC-style of ticket sales (like during the Musicology tour) would be excellent. Of course if there's a prospect of him touring the US out east.

Hold up, put up with it? Why can't fans just be fans and simply want new stuff and be willing to pay for it if they have the money? You make it sound like thoses who will join are "sheep" when we know what exactly we're doing and getting ourselves into. You seem bitter and if that's true then it doesn't mean that the rest of us are. We're going to support this site and if you and others here don't, then fine but you come off as superior because you won't join and that's not cool one bit.

We all piss away money on people and things from which we hope to derive some value or gratification. The notion that any or all of it should come at no cost to us or at some cost below its value in the marketplace is, to put it charitably, naive.

If $77 entitles me to buy concerts seats in front of people who, if they otherwise sat next to me, would bore me with their whining about $77, it would be the best $77 I ever spent.

Just to re-iterate, you think that because you believe the "pay-to-access" area(s) of the new site will appeal most to existing Prince fans, we should be entitled to free access (almost like a thank-you from Prince?) - mainly due to the fact that we have spent a lot on his stuff over the years?

Anxiety

i think it depends on what i'm getting for that $77.

if i have access to reduced price tickets or fee-free tickets, especially if i have the same luck i had in the past with tix via prince's sites - then i'll plunk down the money.

if i have access to exclusive music that i can actually download to my iPod, then i will plunk down the money.

video to me is not as important. if it's a youtube clone where you can watch but you're not supposed to download your own copies, then the content had better be pretty damn exclusive and special, because most diehard fans have found a way to acquire even the rarest of prince's promotional videos. we know he has so much more mouldering away in the vault...if he wants to be generous with what we haven't seen, i'll plunk down the money, even if i can't burn my own copies.

i'd like to see him "beat the boots" with this site and find a method of getting previously unreleased/rare/new content to fans in a way that can't be exploited by the bootleggers. to me, that would be making the content available for fans to OWN, and at a competitive price.

we'll see what he has in store...

I think its about vaule for money ...so far Prince's track record has been good..since Planet Earth so i don't think he'll charge over the odds for his work...at the start of the year Amazon sold Purple Rain for $1.99 it jumped up the charts to number 9 ...thats alot of sales for a CD that from 1984.. expect the price of the new stuff to be vaule for money...Princes people know this.. cool

I will pay only for physical copies of music and videos. I will not pay for the ability to watch/listen only on the computer through the websites players. I am not interested in viewing more of the website for pictures, "news", or access to purchase paraphernalia like perfume, clothes, whatever. I am interested in concerts, but not in paying to join for access to better seats. Why? The economy is tight, if I spend $77 for the ability to buy tickets, I likely won't have the $$ to buy the actual tickets. So, I'd be better off buying whatever ticket the $77 bought me rather that spending it on the ability to get a better ticket then having no money and getting nothing. That's what happened to me with NPGMC. I will buy the music from the website if that's the only way to get it. But I'd much rather drive to my local BestBuy or Target or whatever and pick them up.

I want physical things as well.
On the other hand the $77 deal might be OK and it can make me feel OK with getting that material (later...) onp ressed discs anyway.

there's been rumors that we'll get a free t-shirt with membership. that's great, but throw in an exclusive CD of unreleased tracks, and i'm definitely in.

Okay. You know you're asking for a lot right? lol This is Prince we're talking about here, I would never expect him to do that. It would be nice of him to do it, but I can't see him doing this. Let's wait and see what happens when the site is fully open. We might get that so all hope is NOT lost. lol
