Some people are still upset with Prince over the Crystal Ball fiasco and refuse to purchase anything from him directly. I know a few people like that.

Did I miss something? What was such a big deal about the 'Crystal Ball fiasco'??

I paid 50USD for 3 discs
and received 5 discs, 1 t-shirt and a tape of The War.

Maybe late, but that's nothing to cry about.

What is there to be upset about, and five years later at that?

You were asleep back then?

Lucky you.
I ordered 11 CB sets, paid for 11 and got one. (1!).
Had to ask my credit card company to refund because the NPG folks wouldn't do it themselves.
That's just my issue. The whole deal, distribution, etc was a bit, euhm.., 'messy'. Slow, vague, changes (even the number of discs, packaging (sphere versus puck), etc)...

Maybe late, but that's nothing to cry about.

Late? Way too late!
There's more, as you read.

What is there to be upset about, and five years later at that?

What does time mean? It's about their actions.
Does time make things less 'sharp' after some of it has passed?
Maybe in your feelings but the reality of that moment or time frame remains.

Hang on, I'll just check my diary... here it is, no. I only slept once a day but was awake for most of it. You got me worried there wink

Were you attempting to buy 11 sets, or did you try 11 times because you weren't getting a sufficient response? I can understand why that would piss you off. On my effort I ordered it twice and received both - sold one to a friend at the actual price.

Can you complain about the number if discs if they increased?

What is there to be upset about, and five years later at that?

Exactly, what's there to be upset about FIVE years later?
An average lifespan is only about 70+ years.

So, are you a member of the club? Unfortunately, the club may be the only way to get hold of some material, and whether they provide exclusive material or not, they are the only people who can offer that carrot...

I know a lot of people like u, udo, that either preordered, paid and never got their copies, or had to order multiple copies before they got one (and were charged for all of them). Thank God I wasn't one of the tragedies. I ordered mine the day they started shipping and got it 4 days afterward. Sabaisabai, in case u forgot, it was a HORRIBLE time to be a Prince fan.

Now I remember... I wasn't asleep but I wasn't part of any online Prince community then. So, the only experience I had was my own and I never heard other people complaining.
I wonder, would the NPGMC be made more enjoyable by avoiding all of these forums? The gripes of many people (mine included) make a hell of a depressing noise..

I was trying to order 11 sets in one go to help some people.

I don't know all the details anymore but there was talk about more discs and the amount of music on each disc became less than expected.

What is there to be upset about, and five years later at that?

An average lifespan is only about 70+ years.

I don't know if my lifestyle will yield me 70+ years.
I'm not upset anymore (this is my normal modus operandi, see) but it's a lesson.

So, are you a member of the club?

Yes, for year 2002.

Unfortunately, the club may be the only way to get hold of some material, and whether they provide exclusive material or not, they are the only people who can offer that carrot...

That's the shitty thing in here.
There's the love of the music and the stuff that sometimes happens when you order.

And seeing this type of price being paid, only makes me realize that the 59.99 (?) retail on ONA Live is a good idea...having it available to the public to buy without inflated bidding prices.
