THE NPGMC

The Npgmc
Hi Everybody,

I wanted to express myself about the NPGMC and I think some you won't like this message.

I am for the freedom of the music and the eguality between all the fans, which seems to be against the conception of the music given by the NPGMC.

At the beginning of the 90's, Prince prentends to be a "SLAVE" with a lack of freedom... His music has always been available for EVERYBODY and there was a complete eguality between all the fans. In 1999, it is the release of RAVE UN2 THE JOY FANTASTIC AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO NE "normal".

A little while later, thee websitesite 1800newfunk.com becomes the "NPGMC" and peopls start talking about a membership to be able to download some exclusive mp3's (the first year, year 2001).

At this point, what seemed to be a community becomes the creation of two clans : the members, and the other fans who don't have a memberhsip. Only people having internet and those who are members can get his music.

The first year is good money for Mister Prince and he launches the second one...

There, some fans will get MORE music (soundchecks
et aftershow) and priviledges for them ONLY (the members).

The image of "community" is torn apart ! Prince music is now ONLY for the NPGMC.

Even if we are all fans, we MUST realize there is no eguality between fans... I don't know any artist who has released an albums only for a minority. And, in addition, i don't know what is the point for him (this doesn't help him to spread his music) ...

The easiest to notice was at the entrance of the concerts when fans have to be seperated in two clans : the members and those who are not members for various reasons.

The worst is when, during the concerts, he seems to talk only to the NPGMC... as if the others fans who are not members did NOT exist.

Yes, i am a fan, i like the music but not the way he is spreading it now.

Many fans who did not have internet and did not hear of the npgmc where very disappointed to hear about all that. Knowing the album promoting the tour was only a minority ...

Here it is, i wanted to express myself about all that, in a place where there is no seperation between members and those who are not members.

Bertrand

PS : According to me, having to subscribe to a club for 100 $ to get an album (ONE NITE ALBM) is unbelievable. Never seen before, i don't have to do that to get Bruce Springsteen's latest album.

What a good post...
Nice one.
and the Springsteen album is way better than Rainbow Children... that will really annoy some of u smilesmilesmile
Very good point about the dialogue at the concerts, prince talking to the npgmc members at the front.
I was about 2/3 way to the back ...I am a npgmc member and I am glad I wasnt there at the front... bunch of geeks wink
The strange thing was that the WHOLE AUDIENCE were singing to the words of Sometimes it Snows In April and Strange RElationship and When U were mine and none of these are well-known Prince songs.

The last Springsteen album is a piece of shit for american retards. It is sooo catchy. Springsteen targets the american middle class with songs about "shit how sad we are now". I'm a big Springsteen fan and I have been used to much deeper material from him.

The production is really bad too. It is completely designed for american radio stations. I have heard this production a million times before. We are so far from Darkness on the edge of town or the deep The Ghost of Tom Joad.

Springsteen by the way couldn't play anything near what is on the rainbow children. As an instrumentist he just doesn't have the skills. And yes when I listen to Rainbow Children or Up from Peter Gabriel, these two masterpieces totally ridiculize Springsteen in his attempt to please everybody.

Moreover as a Springsteen fan I had to wait many years before he releases a new opus which drives me crazy. he waited seven years this time to release a new album.

I can't stand what Springsteen symbolizes right now. He is the american Bono. The good guy who always turns up on TV everytime there is a catastrophe in the world. It has become a disgusting business. He is the good conscience of sick people.

i am going 2 pay money 2 see SPringsteen & i am so looking 4ward 2 it.
his new album is the shit!
Paradise is like a new I'm On Fire 4 me...
the whole thing is great.
& on the point of non-members knowing the words 2 songs...what does that have 2 do with it???
i am not a member,have been a fan 3 & a half years & i know the lyrics.

good point bertrand on the whole,he could still sell it himself, the music, without having memberships & stuff...but its the way it is now,c what happens in the next 24 months...things will change im sure they will.

ouh ouh Can't stop laughing!!! lol
The Rising again is not the shit IT IS A PIECE OF SHIT. I advise to buy The River or Darkness on the edge of town or Born to Run. Then tell me that The Rising is a good Springsteen album and I consider you deaf.

What's next about this CD?! Some are gonna say the production is original hehe.

BTW his last tour is boring. Far from the intensity of the previous one. That tour was a real E street band on fire thing!!!

This was a good post about the club. If you wanna talk about Springsteen take it to the non-related artists forum. Don't hijack the thread!

May I add that now there is rift within the "clan". There's the "Have" vs "Have Nots", "We Want Music" vs "We want it All".

The Have's afforded to attend the Celebration and concerts; which solely made up this year.

The Have Nots..well, couldn't for one reason or another.

We want music didn't give a good rip about the concerts to begin with. They just wanted the music that was assumed to be exclusive (the word is missing from the membership form (Yet, I swear I've read it there at the beginning of this year.))

We want it all don't care who did what as long as they participated.

So, you're right. We once were a community sharing an idea. We were all equal.

Now, now what has happened to the fan base? And, can we
not honestly say it is because of Prince the rift exisits?
