...LIVE, that is.

I'm shocked that I got my copy before Christmas, let alone before next Spring. It took nearly six months for those fools to get that skinny little leaf of a piano album from Minnesota to my doorstep in Chicago, fer cryin' out loud. This time around, there's hope for us all, I suppose!

I just undid all the shrinkwrapping and I'm digging on the first track of the first disc. Nice. I haven't felt this good about Prince since hearing this music in the flesh almost a year ago. I'm not saying that all's forgiven with NPGMC or that I'll even consider renewing my membership, but damn...what's coming out of my stereo right now is worth at least HALF the grief little man's bidniss spilled on me this year.

And to answer a question that's kinda been answered, kinda not - the "xtra" copy of ONA is packaged INSIDE the shrinkwrapped ONA Live box...the person who said ONA is going to be "The Truth" to ONA Live's "Crystal Ball" was dead...on it. Kinda cheep'n'cheezy, huh, but I'm filing it under shrug, roll yer eyes, and get back to the groove.

Won't spoil too many surprises, but I'll say that this is a treat and a half. The book walks the fine line between really nice and typical cheesy Paisley design, but I'll tellya now: it's got some of the best photographs of the P that I've seen in years. Very nice.

I'm a happy camper. Is it worth the inflated retail price or the $75 it looks as if I've paid? Ask me sometime in the next lifetime, once I get tired of what's kicking my ass in the here and now. Till then: Beauty, eh. Dang.

The only disparaging thing I have to say about the ONA set is something everyone who saw the shows will surely remember - during the solo piano section, we could surely do without so much audience participation and a bit more of P's crooning. That's honestly the worst part of the set so far - not enough Prince! (and there's plenty on the rest of the set, no worries)

It's a crazy week to send out a mass shipment - I hope everyone gets their tunes this weekend or early next week. No more NPGMC/Gage drama, por favor!
