Yes, (There'll Never B) Another Like Me has been removed from the website, and when you click on the /1.mp3 URL, you get a page saying "you looking for something?"

Sounds like something Prince would say lol
I swear the words "HATER" is wayyy over-rated...smh

I hope this song isn't included on any album. It's dull and devoid of new or valuable ideas, production or content-wise. Why is Prince content to keep singing about nothing? There are so many things to make music about, is "there'll never be another like me?" and its many variants released by Prince over the years really a worthwhile contribution to popular culture?

Well if he shoppin ideas, this one is bad. Immature lyrics, lead vocal line sounds like an old cameo record. But Cameos was better. My advise, leave past in the past, go the route of breakin new ground. Raise the bar for all the starving children ofthe world with no good music to eat! The rainbow children and the new rock joints is whats up. WORD music

You're entitled to your opinion of course and my comment won't go in this territory but you know what? Write your own songs instead of criticizing. Create and then you talk... wink

I agree with u Klaatu. I'm probably one of the most critical people you'll ever meet, but this song is 10x better than anything getting played on the radio. Much better than all of the "Prince-inspired" trax we're hearing on the radio now.

Over the years, I've figured out that there are 2 different kinds of Prince fans. The rock fans and the funk fans. The rock fans seem to ALWAYS despise the funk songs. The funk fans ALWAYS call his rock stuff "ok" or "lame". So, I guess they are one of the rock fans.

Aiight now, I had to respond to this. I am a rock AND funk fan. If he says this is the new controversy, he crazy. The lyrics to SOTT and Controvery alone, smoke this track. Not to mention the groove. This is childish for a dude like Prince. Go ahead, listen to em right now next to this. Point proven. Im all for in yo face quality funk. If he has a whole album of this? U can have it. If Prince listen to his fans listen to common sense.

I am very anxious and hyped 2 hear the cut John Blackwell was referring 2...

I live in the now, and I thought "Chelsea Rodgers" was JAMMIN, but 2 hear something that relays the raw, hard, deepness of the Funk in "Controversy"... one of MY fav jams ever... wore the damn record out... BUT in the NOW...

Like I said... the man has PLENTY of Funk up his sleeve.

That online track was him teasing U.

PEACE.

Give me a break. Teasing us with what? His ability to write a song on par with some Pro Tools rookie?

Will this deep funk be as rocking as Planet Earth was going to be? Aren't you the psuedu-insider who laughably claimed Planet Earth was going to be the second coming of the genre?

Hello. Excuse me?? Have U read anything I've written about this song?? Damn. Do your research, Kidd. Read my posts. Then read them again.

I'm not psuedo-anything, and U CLEARLY don't anything about who I am, and what I do, both musically, and professionally, so back off.

The ONLY thing I claimed about 'Planet Earth', before it was released, is that it would divide the "fans" more than most Prince albums... U wanna deny that?

...and what is really "laughable", is that U go after me, instead of the folks calling this track funky... Prince knows what funky is... trust me. He just threw this track out there. U should never think that he can't throw down the deepest Funk anytime he wants 2. By "throw down", I mean "lay down", which means "record", which he has... He's just holding it back 4 now.

As I said before about this track, it's a nice, light pop-funk groove... it VERY LIKELY is not what John was referring 2 at all.

Right, I went after 'U'.

It's too bad Prince has all this really great music that only you seem to know about. Next time the two of you jam, U should tell him 2 release it instead of another batch of adult contemporary easy listening rock.

No offense to u Gio, but Prince may know what funk is, but I highly doubt that he can just "throw down" funk anytime he wants to, because he hasnt.....for years. Prince biggest problem is that he thinks everything he does is golden, and its not. If he was just "teasing" us, he would "tease" us with somthing that would actually "tease" us i.e. make us excited, not this dribble. And I wouldnt take Jon B's word, or anyone else in P's inner circle, about anything Prince does. Do you really think they would say, "This song sucks donkey balls!" If they did, maybe he would do something that would really "tease" us.

Co-Sign. I think it`s just a teaser for the new linn drum funk tracks,John Blackwell was referring to.
I, as somebody who is making music myself, find it interesting and nice that Prince first gives us an instrumental and the second day, when many people said, no this can`t be him, he is giving us the full track with vocals.
Gonna be interesting whether he will release two different albums 2009....

Could be a cool move....to show people his rocking side and his funky side wink

And i would release the records not together, but like two or three weeks after ...

I didn't mean 2 sound arrogant, and simply became defensive, because of "Wall"'s distortion of what I had said previously.

I was basically saying something similar... that this track wasn't anywhere near comparable 2 "Controversy", and that it was likely another track, other than the one JB referred 2. I also said I don't think it will be released as it was heard, or at all.

I said it was a "nice, light, pop-R&B groove", but not Funk.

Where's the damn beef?

...and no, Wall, I don't jam with Prince.

...and 2 "Klyph"... DAG, if U sub the "K" out 4 a "G", then...

I hear what you're saying, but I think the issue is more like what Prince decides 2 hold back, and what he releases. He's always released the best stuff when he just doesn't care what folks will think, and releases quickly.

He has definitely layed down some Funk in recent times. What about "The Work" and "Chelsea Rodgers"? His drumming, bass guitar, and guitar R right out there in the mix, with not 2 many effects... just STOMPIN'. Also... what about the stuff he's layed down, but held back?

As far as the Linn goes, I'm down with that, as long as it's mixed and EQed right... like powerful, and out in the mix, like he used 2.
HOWEVER, only here and there.

I love Prince's kit drumming, so I'm always down with that.
