ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY on "One Nite Alone LIVE" and what it means to YOU:

Hello friends,

The latest Entertainment Weekly mentions "One Nite Alone-Live" as a recommendation for gift giving this holiday season.

EW states the retail price of the set as...$50.00 U.S.

TA-DA!

HEY "FAMS", look at it ONE of TWO ways:

1) The general Public is spending $50 on the set, while you are paying $75.00 for the same 3 discs(!)

-or-

2) This means that if the live set is a $50.00 value to you as well, then the 30+min. piano cd you may or may not have recieved set you back $50 as WELL!!

...and there's your $100 membership! See, "membership does have it's privliges"

WELCOME TO THE DAWN!! & "Merry Christ-mess"!

(p.s. some of you may include the intangibles like soundcheck and seat priority as in your $100...BAH! Those are the bonuses, and "privliges" part of the deal. What price tag do you assign a ticket you paid fully for?

You have just accessed the fraud experience! Do you wish to continue? Very good! Enjoy your experience!

4 some reason, I believe the Prince will give us something extra along with ONA. He still needs us 2 go purhcase a retail version of the cd. Whether it be extra packaging, or extra cds, he will do something different for club members. Besides, he needs us 2 rejoin next year and will want us 2 promote the club 2 family and friends.

Why is everyone concerned about how much ONA (studio version) is worth?. Think of it this way - in the future when our man is only a memory, your copy of ONA will be a valuable collectors item and (like the original black album vinyl's) could be worth heaps!

Although I also would have prefered 4 different cd's in the npgmc it is so funny to see how uptight everybody is getting when it comes to the ONA Live set. I am sure most of you guys have spent quite some money on boots because everbody knows that prince is at his best when he is performing live.

Finally after 24 albums he is releasing a live cd from one of his best tour performances. so where is the fucking problem?

Concerning the membership even without the cd's for my part I can only say it was more than worthwhile. Attending the celebration this year and being seated in the member section during the berlin concert including an afterparty where you could meet other members IMO was worth the money.

peace

I can't see ONA (studio version) becoming valuable for two reasons:

There is no mystique about the recording so it will only be of interest to die-hards who probably already own it.

The content is essentialy not very good (in my opinion, others may think otherwise) so will not sell on desirability.

Yeah.

The soundcheck, good concert seats and aftershow in copenhagen, was worth the members price.

STOP THE NEGATIVITY.

For shure I will renew my membership next year.

I resent your comments Miko.

I never actually said I expected more, did I? I simply asked where it was stated that ONA live would be the final offering. I have commented many times on the poor state of the club this year and will be as disapointed as anyone if it is just ONA and ONA live this year.
RIP sad

Really, you don't see what the fucking problem is? Honestly, are you just stupid or what?

It is great that Prince is finally releasing a live CD of one of his best concerts. Terrific! Great! Maybe non Prince fans will finally understand that Prince is one of the greatest live performers.

However, the value of the club is a completely different story. Prince created a CONtract between us and him. I think membership no longer has its privileges. He’s too mercurial to deliver on a CONtract. It's better just being Joe Public and waiting for the albums to arrive when he’s done them and just paying for them when they do.

All the grumblers should cancel en masse and tell him that hey, okay, we don’t like the record companies either, but unless you got something better to offer, but we’re USED to being dicked around by them, so why should we pay more to be more dicked around by YOU?!

First of all joe public was not sitting in the front rows during all his concerts it were the members and they enjoyed it!

Secondly, since you seem to be so smart it is up to you to join the club for another year after all we have the freedom of choice.

Thirdly, nobody knows whether this will be the last cd for this years music club. So why don't you just relax and wait till the year has come to an end before you are complaining. As everybody knows Prince is unpredictable and I would assume that nobody but himself knows what will happen in this years musicclub.

And finally I think not only non Prince fans will enjoy ONA Live. After all the recording quality will be excellent.

why is evrybody complaining about the 3disc set ona live.
we all did see the best concert ever of prince .he gives it 2 us with very good quality(much better then all the crapy bootlegs yes eye have them 2).prince is on his best live.
so whats wrong with this box.he gives us so many new music .and now 4 once he gives us something live and all we do is complain.complain complain.yes this year was very bad.but he was very busy touring and he doesnt got a big industrie after him doing things 4 him.prince always changed plans.hes been like this about 30 years now.
maybe he will give us the other thinhs later or whatever.prince is a free man .and now the fams are trying 2 tell him what 2 do and what not.he's an artist let him create what he wants.if u don't like it thats not the end of the world .just wait untill the next move .and eye'm sure he will give us something extra at the end off year 2.
woekie woekie!!!

I think release date to retail is Tue. Dec. 17?

We are complaining because:
1) This will not be exclusive for club members
2) A lot of us already have the ONA Live show (or multiple shows) without any overdubbing.

Well, those are my issues.. :p I didn't buy TRC retail nor will I this ONA live set.

Although I don't feel cheated by the music club, and I can't wait another second for the ONA Live CD's (I'm dying to hear some of my fav parts of the show again), I have to admit that I'm not going to be the first person to renew my membership next year.

If he promises 4 more CD's, I won't renew. Only if he promises to tour and come back to Toronto again will I renew my membership. $160 (Canadian cash) isn't worth it unless we get those premium seats (yes, I consider that worth it).

I have a friend who is obsessed with Bjork, and bought her "6 disc" (meaning "one CD, and 5 tiny discs") box set for $70, and he said "I don't think I'll listen to it very often. I'm not sure it was worth it..." Artists are flaky, not just Prince. Our money starts in our pockets, and leaves only when we give it away. Prince fulfilled his contract, making us all happy wasn't part of it, but I think he did truly try. He just stretched himself so thin this year, I'm amazed he can do it. He's trying to tour all corners of the world so that fans can see him, and at the same time release 4 CD's of music. I admire him for that. But maybe the "exclusive to fans" carrot isn't good enough for us to bite anymore. Just release to retail independently, or sell the CD's on his web-site and we'll buy the ones we want. Too many thoughts on this...

But I'd bet a US$100 membership that he releases Xenophobia through the club next year. I Betcha! Didn't he record with Candy and Miles Davis? Hmmm... carrots...

I thought Xenophobia was recorded 2001-2002. Miles Davis has been dead since 1991!
