NPGMC: What perks...?

Now, I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but I need to say this and share my year two experience with everyone.

I was a member of the club in year one, as well as year two and despite the fact that he didn't tour in Europe last year, was quite happy with the club over all. We recieved lots of music and that after all is what we are in it for.

Then it was announced that year two was going to be CD's instead of downloads and there was even the possibility that he would be playing in the UK. Excellent! But that's not the way it worked out is it?

I paid my money and recieved my first CD, I already had some of the music from the year one membership but it was nice to have it on a CD with a sleeve and better sound quality. Lets call that a moderate sucess.

Months had past and I still didn't have a second CD, but what the hell, Prince was coming to London. I sat at my work computer early in the morning, waiting for the tickets to go on sale. When they appeared the site crashed over and over again and then the tickets were sold out - in an hour! I was unbelievably disappointed and sat back and had to get tickets through Ticketmaster.

Then the concert happened and performance aside it was a complete disaster. I had standing tickets in an all seater venue. Yes, I was standing at the back of the Hammersmith Apollo behind 100 rows of seats, unable to see anything. To make it worse Prince was standing at the front, boasting of the benefits of club membership and chanting "Join The Club".

I really thought that things couldn't get worse but they have. Now it appears that our next three CD's will be a live album (which feels like a cop out when you have so much studio stuff in the vault) and not only that but a live album that will be available to the general public. It will also probably be available in my local HMV before I receive my copy from the NPGMC.

So, welcome to my world. I have never been so disappointed in one of my hero's as much as I am at this point, it really does just make me want to weep...

I hate to say it but the NPGMC tickets were back on sale a few hours later, and then remained on sale for at least another whole day...it was a system error at the time.

But at least with standard tickets you didn't get penned into the foyer for upto 2 hours before soundchecks on thursday & Saturday...oh the sweet memories of being a factory chicken!!

Trust me, I tried to purchase tickets when they reappeared later and it still crashed at the check out. I must have tried 20 times throughout the day.

And trust me I would have loved to be penned in...

Just something eye don't understand: WHY do u all keep saying that ONA Live will b our next 3 CDs when a fan working in the record company which will distribute it 2 the general public STATED on THIS websight that it won't b comprised in our membership cuz the so-said record comapny wants our $$$ ?!

This obviously means that:

Bad news: We will have 2 PAY MORE $ 2 get it.
Good news: We will have 3 others CDs.

This doesn't make year 2 less shit than it is, but stop sayin' we'll get ONA Live & nothing else !

camille1987, you pretty much sum up my experience with the club so far.

When they said Year 2, I expected to be entertained throughout the year by joining the club. So far, I've only been entertained for the few days after the One Nite Alone CD arrived.

Hehe, YEAH, that holds a lot of weight?

are u in the npgmc music club, if ure not, that might answer this question. But eye have recieved 2 emails by NPGMC stating that ONA Live was being sent out to member.. eye know they suck, but thats more verified info than the "Friend at the record company who dont know sh*T"

I also was unable to get premium tickets through the website so emailed NPGMC expressing my dissapointment.

It took quite a few emails but in the end they processed my request and charged it to the card I use for membership.

Remember when the news of a live cd set first touched down? Everyone was complaining! Oh Lawd will we being NPGMC members have to pay for this 3cd live set should it be part of our membership?? ala ONA, Best of, the Last December, Xenophobia! Ohh man, people where complaining about having to pay for a 3cd set. I guess the grass is always greener..they say. In the mean time then people are emailing the club saying they want the 3cd live set..and Prince see's all these legs of live material being traded and is like I'll squash them! Is that how its gonna go down?? Is that the truth?? Why won't anyone just ask Prince at one of the soundchecks??!

Oh please... Do NPG Records look like a mojor company to you ?? Do you think they can manufacture 3 CDS ??

I liked the idea of getting music on real CDS... but the club cannot provide 4 brand new CDS a year... we'll get the box set, then year 3 will be about downloading again.

The club sucks this year, period. He won't be getting my $100 next year that's for sure. I tried to be patient, but he doesn't even send out emails to let us know what's going on. He has horrible business ethics.

I also feel ripped off BUT i have a sneaking suspicion that we r gonna get surprised soon. Well I hope so.
I don't think I can afford to join next year. Especially if this year is anything to go by. I wonder if the club will apologise for the way we've been treated.
I didnt eevn try and buy the tickets from the website. As soon as I saw the $100 / £70 price tag I started to sweat then I quickly closed I.E down before my PC started to leak money straight to NPGMC.
