Okay so far this year of the NPGMC was a bit of a let down. last year we had the downloads 2 live 2 every month, the ahdio shows, the videos... this year we only had 1 cd so far and I know we gonna get 3 others but y is it taking that long?
Do u all think that year 3 should go back 2 downloads?? maybe even better quality? 320 kbs?
Or have u got any other suggestions 2 make NPGMC year 3 work??
Maybe a forum or chat?

I'd still rather have a CD format--but obviously with more CD's. Many fans don't have computers, and some aren't able to burn CD's if they do.
Old subject i know, but if the npgmc would give us a little more info or timeline then it wouldn't be such a pain in the butt guessing what they're doing next.

How about a little of both?

That would be fine with me. He's not USING the net! Why the hell aren't some of his shows, most if not all of which are videotaped in one form or another, put online? He says he writes a song a day, on average. . .why not at least let us download those that he doesn't think he'll ever actually put on an album?

But hey, when I actually get the rest of my cds for this year, I guess I'll decide what I think. In all honesty, the seats I got at the shows I went to, and the afterparty access, ended up being well worth $100 to me.

I was thinking of joining this year as NPG mbrs got CDs! I don't have a computer at home so would find it a waste of money if this was the case.

Please don't let this be true or else He'll lose out on my $100!

I'm not sold on the "not all fams who want to join the club have a computer" reasoning for not wanting downloads. Don't you need a computer to join the club in the first place? There's not a phone number to call to join, is there?

Nearly all communities have a library, college, or some other place with internet access for the general public that is free. If you don't own a computer, there are still a variety of ways to get online.

I like the idea of CDs, but it leaves the door open to a year like we've had with no timeline for when the CDs will arrive, what the CDs will be, if they'll be four different albums or a a three-CD live set plus a piano demo, etc. With last year's monthly downloads, you at least knew that once a month there'd be new stuff to hear.

I just know that I was much happier eight months into year 1 than I am eight months into year 2.

If the club were to shape up considerably, & I actually wanted to rejoin after this pathetic year, I'd still want CDs. But in the months of waiting for them, why not give us a sample track or two to download & wet our appetites? Or a video or live performance of one or two of the tracks. As for the cmputer argument...its true not all members have computers - I didnt at first and renting out time siply isnt an option. It takes me approx 2 hrs to download the vids (even longer sometimes) and Ahdio takes about 8...can you imagine doin thatin a library and,on top of that,not being able to take your files home with you to listen to or watch.

It will stay cds if it makes it to year 3 because they get the $$$ upfront and can give you anything. Its like those Con men you get who sell cameras and stuff really cheap to plants in the crowd...you think you too are gonna get a great deal until you open up your package and find duff stuff.

there wont be a year 3, everyone complaind all thru year1 , and now everyone has complained thru year 2(with some justification), at the end of this year prince will say fuck the fams, i cant be arsed with this hit,and itl all be over, and guess what everyone who has moaned constantly for the past 2 years will be moaning again.

Maybe it won't be a bad thing if there was no year three.

Prince could still sell music through the retail section, as and when he sees fit. We wouldn't be complaining because we were expecting something and we don't know what it is, or when we are getting it. He should not announce it untill it is all set to go, maybe 2-3 weeks prior to sale. Then when new music appears, we will love it and be happy.

The only real downside would be if they stopped the concert pre-sales. Although this was only another opportunity to spend more money with the club, we would have spent it quite happily with a ticket agency and probably not had anywhere near as good seats as we did.

Just another angle on the CD/download debate:
As much as there was more music in year 1 than yr 2, i personally think the quality of music will be better if he's actually releasing a CD over a single download. From what i've heard from yr 1--not one of those songs except maybe 'Vavavoom' or 'When i lay my hands...' would belong on a released album in stores.

Granted ONA is no masterpiece, i listen to it much more than any yr 1 song. I think ONA live will be much better than any download too, but that remains to be seen.

Ultimately, i wish he would just produce 10,000+ CD's of every new release(on his schedule) and put it up for sale on his site so we can decide if we want it or not. Add a 'review' page and we can add our thoughts and comments. But that won't likely happen.

I can't see that there's really much $$ in upkeeping the NPGMC website, since it's updated so rarely anyway, especially with CDs going out rather than downloads. Why not do it again?

back to downloads, please. this year is being a complete nightmare. prince is not being honest to us. taking the money back in february and all we are getting is an awful cd. we got no assurements on when we will be getting, if ever, the rest of the cd's. at least this is faul and fraudulent. i rather ahve my monthly downloads. it all made a closer and special connection to the artist and technology really had a soulful meaning.

Downloads or CDs? Hard questions. I like most liked having something new every month including the Audio Shows and the Videos.

However, I like the quality of the CD even with the digipak.

Prince just needs to have better customer and quality assurance and this club thing would work.

However, what's logical just doesn't seem to make it in P's world.

I'll probably join next year, just for the ride. If it's available.

Dont you see...Prince isnt aware of the problems and feelings towardsthe NPGMC. The pen-pushers who run the site shelter him from the truth by only printing glowing reports or editing what people write in so that it sounds good.

it'LL b INTERRESTING what happens 4 a Year 3 with The NPGMC... if there's gonna b 1 eye'm gonna join 4 sure. people have been complaining so MUCH this Year (2002). eye hope there's a Demand 4 it & P does it again this Year.
