Who bought a cloud guitar?

I'm wondering if anyone bought the cloud guitar on NPGMC...
Is it worth the 1500$ ?

I nearly have several times. Something always holds me back though. I really wanted the bolt on neck cuz it was cheaper @ $1000. I don't really care how valuable, rare or quality it is. I just want to hear what one sounds like. But everytime they offer one, they run out before I can get the money together. Or I chicken out. Last time, they had both the set and bolt neck offered for $1500 so I didn't buy one simply out of confusion. That doesn't seem fair that they'd change their prices like that. They look beautiful. If they sound as good as they look, I'm sure it's worth the $$$.

Remember that they are smaller than your average guitar as they're made specifically for Prince. Still cool to have, nonetheless.

I bought the blue 1, but i sold it within a few weeks, cuz i couldn't play, and i needed the £s, it was sad ;( cuz it looked great, even though it was made in Korea or Taiwan, i think. I sold it 2 a trust-worthy guy in the US, he paid me before i sent it. I lost bout $100, but i made most $s back.

I noticed that they now mention "traditional black dots on fret" which I don't think used to be in the description. The pictures on the shopping page clearly show the older versions with the symbols on the fret. It's too bad that they don't have the symbols on the fret anymore, since that was one of the little things that made the guitar really cool looking. Now it's just cool shape, and overpriced to boot.

Can anyone confirm they are made in Korea ?
I am in Korea and I have seen a white copy for sale here and it's not made by Schecter. it is made by Edwards or some name like that, it costs approx US$900... I will take pictures if anybody really wants me to...

Also remember that all sales are final too. I just got a shirt that is waaay too large and I asked if I could exchange it and they won't let me.

NPG's business tactics SUCK ASS BIGTIME . What the fuck is so hard about sending another size? I'll pay the fucking shipping and handling for crying out loud.

Sorry for the potty mouth, I'm just pissed!

Note - there is a difference between the very expensive versions of the cloud that were originally sold by the NPG store (the real thing) and the Schecter clone that was sold by NPGMC more recently more cheaply (not the real thing).

My advice is that your $1500 will go a lot further on a normal guitar. You'll get a far better quality instrument, but it won't look like Prince's guitar. If you want a good musical instrument, buy one. If you want a cheap inferior copy of what Prince plays, to stick on your wall, go for it (but a poster would be cheaper).

The Schecter guitars aren't all that bad, but you are definitely paying a premium for the fact that it looks a bit like Prince's guitars (as you do with most signature series guitars). To me it's reasonably pretty but it's not the real thing (i.e. it isn't what Prince plays) and I wouldn't waste my time with it.

Even if you have an exact expensive replica, you wouldn't be able to recreate Prince's sound without all his amps and effect processors and what else he uses. I sure would like to have one though.

When they were raffling one at the Celebration, I know Damon commented that they had a bunch in the warehouse.

So apparently they were stocking up or they just aren't selling.

Take it how you wanna.

I bought a white one a month back, I was lucky as they had the incorrect price on the web page for 1 day. I ended up getting the setneck for $1000, as they honoured their mistake...so not all things that the NPGMC do are bad!!

I thinks it's well worth $1000, even though it may be a cheap(er) copy...I could never afford one of the original £4000 models, let alone one played by Prince £1000+...

Look great on the wall...jedi
