come on, people: deal. please, the complaints are getting truly annoying. no one's forcing you to join npgmc, and prince doesn't owe us anything. we want him to be free, let's give him what he deserves. bad enough dealing with warner bros., let's not make it like 2 million little record labels out there all tryin to dictate the man's art.

IF 'One Nite Alone...Live!' does constitute the completion of this years membership (and it's still just an 'if' at the moment) I think NPGMC could be facing a few lawsuits for breach of contract. It's clear that the implication was that we were gonna get 4 seperate, distinct CD albums. It doesn't matter how many 'physical' CD's an album is made up from, it's still only 1 album. You wouldn't go into a record store to buy say, Stevie Wonder's Greatest Hits, and then when you got to the checkout, get charged for each disc seperately would you? Personally, I think there will be at least 1 more CD to come after 'One Nite Alone...Live!' (as they could argue that 'It Ain't Over...' constitutes a seperate album... at a push) We shall see at the end of the year, when everything's finished. They could still come through, and send out ANOTHER 2 CD's. If they do I will certainly be singing their praises, and signing up for another year. Obviously, we'd all be happier with the most generous interpretation of the NPGMC 2002 agreement regarding new CD's for members. Unfortunately, a much more limited interpretation seems likely. I have belonged to mail-order CD clubs (like Columbia House) in the past, and make no mistake - an order for an album that consists of 2 discs counts as TWO SEPARATE discs for the membership agreement. There is ample precendent for this method of counting CD's. So using existing agreements used by other music clubs, it seems that a 3 disc release from Prince will satisfy the remaining NPGMC obligation to members. Sure we'd all like more, but our contract may not entitle us to more. Lastly, I'll say once again, that I am very satisfied with the value I received from the Club this year, and I'll be ecstatic when the ONA Live set arrives. Honestly, I can't put a $$ value on the experience I had, up close, at the ONA Kodak Theatre performance on April 19th. One thing seems obvious, it was worth far more than $100! And as a member, I will have had access to EVERY concert this year, including the Europe and Japan shows. That has never been so easily available to any of us before. Some of the biggest complainers are those who are struggling financially. Some complain that they don't have access to a credit card (ouch!). Others are out of work or are simply overextended in other ways. To those less fortunate I say, I feel for you, but this may not be the year when you get to spend extravagantly on entertainment. It bothers me that so many want to blame Prince for their financial hardship. Threaten to sue if you must. It seems that Prince has done his share of suing those who adore him as well. But remember what happens when Prince feels forced to deliver music - it's called "Chaos and Disorder"! RESPONSE TO, THE MAX***___WRONG!...READ THE AGREEMENT...says "4 brand new Prince CD's". Each club membership has there own agreements and rules and the agreement from NPGMC clearly states EVERYTHING...and no word of a "CD set" Or anything referring to a set. IT SAYs. "4 BRAND NEW CD's. If you are promised 3 pair of NEW shoes do you expect 6 unmatched shoes? NO, I dont think so...Especially AFTER you paid for them...This has NOTHING TO DO WITH MONEY...this has to do with fullfilling an agreement or change it! Promises!...I do not want ONE PENNY from Prince/NPGMC or anybody else and I am sure there are more who would agree. I just want justice and what I was lead to believe when I joined membership. "I" dont NEED his money...I know how to make my own. This is not just about me or him or her this is about the CLUB MEMBERS period! Just because 1 satisfied members vs 5 unsatisfied members does not make it right...This is wrong..SURE in any business or corp. things happen...running late, equipment down...something...but we are talking, CD's, no communication and promises. IMHO dont send me my 4 CD's by February but TALK TO US...Tell us whats up! Dont make us out to feel as if we were taken...

[This message was edited Sun Oct 6 12:17:04 PDT 2002 by TheMax] well, from what I remember it was he who offered himself to deliver the 4 CD's. So it is hard to say that he was forced. If anything, he forced himself. We are not to be blamed. ______________

All hail to the hypno-toad!! This (edited) written in the org this week said it best I think.. The NPGMC has your money. They have offered a service for your money. The website offers things, but promises ONLY the CD 4 set. However, they advertise that you get things like front row seating, conversations with Prince, aftershows, afterparties, exclusive merchandise, and they even advertise that you get exclusive content. What is NOT said is that in order to have access to the items advertised, you have to pay MORE money. BUT $150 a ticket for a concert? Also, almost ALL of the merchandise available in the members area can be bought at a concert, even the guitars! Not so exclusive... Now the exclusive content. Last year, we had ONA and Rainbow Children as downloads. ONA was re-sold _THIS_ year and TRC was offered retail not long after it became a download. This year, we have the aforementioned and aforesold ONA CD, and a promise of a new 3CD set that will be shortly sold in retail stores. Let's talk a second about the value of what we ARE getting this year. Only what was PROMISED. 4 CDs. Possibly 5 CDs. ONA is truly a fan album. This album would tank so bad in the public market. This is fine. The problem is that this album cost me $25 dollars this year, PLUS another $9 from last year as we paid for it LAST year (counting the last month of the downloads null as most of us had to buy the TRC CD in the stores in order to have a full copy in good quality sound). That's $34 for ONE CD. And the 3 CD set? $75 DOLLARS. I will guarantee that the 3 CD set will not cost $75 at K-Mart. Finally, there were a lot of people who signed up for the club this year. That's a lot of exclusive tickets, eh? Well, remember the much vaunted Xenophobia Celebration? Do you remember that there were TONS of people who did not get a chance to purchase tickets to that Celebrtation? And the tour: remember in the beginning when people were getting seats 25 rows back when people off the street were getting row 7? So... DO NOT tout the CDs as 1) they are crazy overpriced, and 2) have not yet been delivered. DO NOT tout the "perks" of the membership as 1) The content is not exclusive, 2) The ticket prices are WAY overpriced, 4) the concert perks are null as you are actually paying MAD LOOT for the tickets, 5) you can include the price of the soundcheck/afterparty/show into the ticket prices, AND lets not forget the fact that ANY NON-MEMBER can get access to these things (yes, even the soundchecks) and probably have better seats than you. DO NOT tout your personal experiences with Prince as you are in the 1 - 5 percent of the club that actually got to be able to do this. Well, actually, you can do what you want. Just please remember this post when you think about what you got this year. There are things that did go right this year: a jour in Europe/Japan, the OUTSTANDING concerts, etc. But there are so many things that have gone FUBAR to say that this has been a success for the average Prince fan. The only way this can improve is with constructive criticism of the club by ALL members. Working with the club to have explicit detail in what is guaranteed with the club, and discussion on ideas on how to aid in techlogical matters and logistical busniess matters. To say everything is great with the club is a disrespect to at least 80 percent of the club members who have had problems.

The BBB will get things rolling in respect to some of the issues that are pending prior to the end of the agreement. And yes for all you who have never used them, they do great things for the consumer in MN. Last year they quickly assisted us with some problems that we were having when they weren't doing enough to troubleshoot a few of the technical problems with the downloads. Sure enough we sent them the history of emails to support and !! A week after they looked into the problem.. NPGMC finally fixed the problem. Hey if you're paying $100 for no more than 4 CDs,, then thats quite an expensive service.

i don't AGREE that it's like a Greates Hit CD. u'd hear Variations of songs not like on a CD. better or longer Solos in the songs perhaps different lyrics. but i'm Lookin' 4ward 2 my next 3CDs or how many P & The NPGMC gives us. i'm just slightly SAD about not being able 2 make One Nite Alone when P came 2 Florida but more CDs will make up 4 that Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
