Very very true and you said this to the and "a" point...1. Do a world tour (in which HE promised). 2. Give us 4 CD's (not albums) also in which HE promised. And if he did not make these decisions and promises and somebody (manager 1) Do a world tour 2) Give us 4 albums 3) Have an interesting love life to talk about Hard to fit in really, the guy's 44, he needs 5 hours sleep a night nowadays! I'm as p-d off as the rest, but come on, how many other artists are as prolific, and would even think about releasing 4 CDs? We were promised 4 cds not 4 albums, although it's messed up if our CDs are not exclusive and go on general sale a month later. Maybe we should get the 3 CDs and something extra only members get - a DVD would be good!

From the website:
Each 2002 member will receive at least 4 brand new Prince CDs in the mail from Paisley Park thruout the year*. Be the first 2 hear new music fresh from the mixing board. Instrumental music, Live music, solo piano albums, and many other xciting releases r already in the works within the Studio walls of Paisley Park. And u will get them first if u join now. This was up when I joined (recently, when I heard he was coming to the UK). It says 4 CDs, not albums, and the wording says hear them first, not get them exclusively. If the CDs are amazing, surely as fans we want the world to hear. I hope there's a good delay between members getting the CDs - whatever they turn out to be - and them going on general sale, which it looks like they will eventually, in fact it makes business sense to create a buzz about the live album, then say "If you want it now, join my club." Then more people might sign up. For those people who signed up early, it looks like you were - not quite promised, but as good as - 4 different CD albums. Because I've waited so long, I knew a bit more about what we were getting. Surely if they want people to sign up for next year, they've got to keep us happy. There's a bit of time left, but if P's off on tour then who's running the show, who's putting the CDs together? At this rate, there are a lot of unhappy people, and membership will be down, not up. Those who didn't sign up are happy, not sad, what does that tell you. And you don't visit the org unless you're a big fan anyway, so any hopes he had of getting "mainstream" peeps to join are slowly sliding away.

Actually, what he should do is just extend the club, give himself more time, make it an 18 month thing and fulfill his obligations.

This is sincere and understandable "if" he would just stand up and aknowledge to his "fans" FAM's, MEMBERS! Sometimes SHITE happens, we have to call in sick or come in late or even take leave for those of us who have jobs so most would understand but to just NOT aknowledge and only give those one or two sentence answers is what keeps members worried. SOMEBODY (NPGMC) should "TAKE A STAND radical man"...

TRON said: They said from the very beginning that the releases were subject to change at any given time. They've already quit talking about 2 of the original ones mentioned- Witness and Madrid 2 Chicago. When you have that much material to draw from, that sort of thing happens.
What material? I haven't seen or heard any...unless you mean "ONA" (half of which i downloaded last year) "Silicon", and "1+1+1=3"... If I had to decide right now, based on what I know and what I've gotten, i would not renew. If a 3cd live album is all she wrote for this year, I'll keep my money in 2003. I've gotten more material from the web and from traders this year and haven't spent anything close to $100 yet.

having read the above and adding my own experience with NPGMC, I smell some legal work coming up that might quite easily end up in a court room. This thread shows clearly that expactations were quite contrary to what seems to be offered to the club members.
But I agree, we need to wait until the end of the year. The contract we signed says that the CD's are to be delivered to the end of the year. So they still have time. I hope they use it well. [This message was edited Sat Oct 5 10:24:33 PDT 2002 by agarze] ______________

My $100 membership paid for itself with access to the front rows of the ONA performance at the Kodak Theatre in L.A. The rest of the goods is simply icing on the cake.
When the ONA Live Box Set arrives (I'm not holding my breath) my contract with the NPGMC will be COMPLETELY satisfied. "When they tell me 2 walk a straight line, I put on crooked shoes"

One thought about the "saeting perks" which our membership gets us...
I've attended NUMEROUS other shows this year with stellar seats I've obtained through "fan presales". NONE of those other artists required me to PAY for that perk. They just asked for my email address. (Which they used to send me regular mailings about the artist's MUSIC and RELEASES) There is the soundcheck bonus, that is cool, and unique. So, I can't fault him there. But, requiring your true fanbase to PAY an extra fee just to get good seats is kinda sad. I dunno, I really thought year2 in the club was good, and am incredibally disappointed in year3. Thank god the celebration was a good as it was, or I'd be really bitter now...

This is great if you are satisfied, you should be. I up untill now am also a satisfied NPG member. Yes we do pay for the MOST EXPENSIVE seats in the house and yes we get the icing on the cake BUT everybody has their own reasons for joining. I joined mainly for the CD's and this is what I was lead to believe I was going to get if I joined. I just want what I PAID FOR!When the ONA Live Box Set arrives (I'm not holding my breath) my contract with the NPGMC will be COMPLETELY satisfied.

I also got into a great soundcheck and show, but the reason for me joining is new cd's... nothing more.. no jelly candles, no goofy t shirts, or a silly keychain that will put u in the hospital if u put it in ure pants while ure sitting down.. ouch!

I'm still hanging in there with a glimmer of hope.
When Prince released ONA there was no announcement - it just started showing up in mailboxes. Perhaps he liked it coming unannounced & unexpected. Soon the "wheres the 2nd cd?" complaints started. By saying ONA...Live! is it there will be no more "where's my cd?" That leaves NPGMC free to send out any final cds without bothersome questions from NPGMC members. It could be a way of cutting back on the rain of e-mails that NPGMC gets. This isn't based on anything solid but it does give me a little hope. Delays my disappointment for a while.

not to feel too naive, but hypothetically, would u all feel a bit silly if when ONA live arrives, it turns out to include xenophobea, and maybe some other goodies, including a dvd, making a total of 7 discs, just for members, much in the same way as karmasutra was only available on CB when bought thru 1-800-NEWFUNK. just a thought.

play an amazing guitar version of "Empty Room" for about 10.000 people but only hours later tells you "No" he will not release it. He has the right to release whatever he wants, whenever he wants. That's only true unless he agrees to a contract either with a label or his fans. And as of now, he owes them 3 more CD's before February

Hmm that sounds like misleading or false advertising. It wouldn't be the first contract that Prince broke.. or the last. If the music lovers on the ORG don't want 2 leave it 2 Prince 2 surprise them, then NPGMC should honor an investor with answers as close 2 the truth as they can get. I guess many music lovers who can't make it to a tour or enjoy the perks are getting a bit nervous. We're living in a post Crystal Ball fiasco world and if he knows that this set is definately the final act.. then he should at least (at this stage) give the club a yes or no answer before they chew their nails off. Are these really the final CDs for the membership??

Members of the NPGMC are TRULY a special bunch.
Your passion for Prince and his music is why I come to this site; BUT I sit here knowing : $$$NPGMC$$$NPGMC$$$NPGMC???NPGMC???NPGMC$$$NPGMC!?!?NPGMC$$$ ... Look, you all knew you were dealing with a "businessman" in Prince; you KNEW what you were getting into! STOP looking at Prince as that guy in the "When Doves Cry" video, and realize you have been screwed, lied to and falsely avertized to by MR.NELSON. You get often rude and vauge responses to inquiries of your purchases via e-mail from NPGMC. THAT IS WRONG. These people who give you this feedback are UNDER THE EMPLOY OF MR.NELSON, and therefore REPRESENT HIM. *** IN 1998, I was not happy with the handling of "CRYSTAL BALL' and did some research: ACCORDING to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU at that time 1-800-NEW-FUNK/NPG RECORDS had no less than 12 registered complaints with the BBB.I began to see what Warner Bros. felt like dealing with Prince! MR.NELSON has shown he has no problem in suing and shutting down fans he feels are doing anything ILLEGAL with his music. MR. NELSON has ILLEGALLY false advertized "Xenophobia", "Best of symbol", "Last December".You PURCHASED literature on his tour stating this is what you would recieve in exchange for your paid membership. $?$?$: YOU NEED TO REALIZE AS A GROUP, YOU ARE NOT BEING TREATED WITH RESPECT; YOU ARE BEING AT TURNS LIED TO MISLED, AND BULLIED. signing up again, let alone allowing Mr.NELSON and his "club" to decieve you before enlisting, is FOOLISH and you deserve whatever you do or DON'T get. I hope some of you are insensed enough to not allow this to unfold. I am not an NPGMC member because I had a feeling something like this WOULD happen! But I'm not laughing; you love a performer that has no regard for you; the contempt is BLATENT!
