Information regarding our FINAL CD's

Ok, eye emailed them once more regarding if ONA LIVE! will complete our membership.. and asked them about Xeno, Best Of and Last December.. this is what they said.

Hello
There are no other cd's in development at this time.THOSE OTHER TITLES WERE IDEAS BUT NOT FINAL

(eye put that in bold for a reason)

that ticks me off, that eye was pretty much lurred in by some fake titles..

Okey dokey...what a crock. Print tour books and put info on the web about four CD titles, then backpeddle and give us CDs that will be available to the general public...whatever. Doesn't that sound like the stuff that made Prince write "slave" on his face...thinking he was getting one deal and then finding out that the tables were turned?

I'm totally thrilled about the live set, don't get me wrong, but the fact that you do not need to be a member of the club to get these discs is just wrong. Membership has *some* priveleges, but not all that I was expecting back in Feb.

a depressing answer, eye've been looking forward to those cd's all year! and now they finally reveal they were mere ideas like CB2 and all the rest

And an answer that is total bullshit if in fact the live set constitutes the last 3 discs of this year's membership. This fucking better not be the way it ends up happening. I too was looking forward to the other discs, especially Xenophobia. Is there a basis for the fans to sue Prince if in fact he offers the live set as the last 3 cds? Especially since it will be offered to the public as well, thus negating the whole point of joining the club.

I still think SDLDAWN is hot as hell!

If it goes down like this I certainly won't join, no matter how great the perks were for the concerts. I'll also go so far to say that I will not purchase Prince music and will gladly spend my money on bootlegs vs putting it in his pocket. Of course I'll still want the official/club music but I'll be able to have someone make me copies. I would rather not take this position but I will if Prince scams us.

I joined the NPGMC with hopes of getting studio albums that would not be available in stores. Now it appears 3 of the 4 member CDs are "live." And non-members will be able to get this one in stores--so much for Premium being Xclusive...if this is indeed the case, my copy of ONA Live is going straight to eBay. Rats.

It is a bit disappointing, but think about the reality. MJ released, what, 5 studio CDs in 14 years - 14 years! We want Prince to:

1) Do a world tour
2) Give us 4 albums
3) Have an interesting love life to talk about

Hard to fit in really, the guy's 44, he needs 5 hours sleep a night nowadays!

I'm as p-d off as the rest, but come on, how many other artists are as prolific, and would even think about releasing 4 CDs? We were promised 4 cds not 4 albums, although it's messed up if our CDs are not exclusive and go on general sale a month later.

Maybe we should get the 3 CDs and something extra only members get - a DVD would be good!

Settle down everyone. It's all speculation at this point. I'm still hoping for the best. I really do want the Xenophobia album and I have a feeling it will come out. He wouldn't be pumping it so much if he wasn't feeling it. As for the other 2 title, they don't interest me that much. The Best of prince might be totally obnoxious reworkings of old songs in the vein of 1999: The New Master. And I always got the impression that Last December was going to be a live album from this tour. That's the only explanation that makes sense for reusing that title. I'm sure it morphed into this ONA box set anyway. What I'm more interested in are the 2 albums that were mentioned during the NPGMC chat regarding year 2. Madrid 2 Chicago was supposed to be a laid back funky kinda thing and Witness 4 The Prosecution was a collection of outtakes including Moonbeam Levels. Prince is constantly coming up with new configurations for his music. I'd like to think that he'll put out the best of what he's considering. I've also heard that as part of his agreement to carry the live album in stores, that he can't include it as part of his club agreement. If this is true, it will probably only be available in the members only retail section before it's made available to the general public. We'll see I guess.

I think all former NPGMC members who are no longer going to join this retarded club should, at the end of this year, each send them a thorough letter explaining what dips they are and what we think of their business practices.

How about we "promise" to pay them $100 for 4 CDs, only under the stipulation that they will get their money sometime between now, and a year from now.

Not only that, but we didn't promise it was 'real' money, we just said money.

ok y'all... just wanted to chime in here...

i'm sorry everyone, but as far as i'm concerned a live album is always a cop-out. it's a way for an artist to sell the same music twice (much like greatest hits albums)--and don't think they don't love that to death! bait it with a few "ringers" (hey! this is a new song amongst the twenty five others you've heard before!) and we, as fans (and completists) HAVE to own it. (there are SOME extremely important live albums out there, but i'm sorry the lions share of them just simply aren't worth it--i can think of maybe 5 or so must own live albums.)

personally, i'm not looking forward to the new album... i don't care how differently all of the songs are performed live, and i don't care that this is his "first" "official" (hee hee) "live" album (sorry, every single live piece that has been officially released has been peppered in the studio a little bit--even "beautiful night" from SOTT with the sheila e. telephone rap thing, you dig?). i would have preferred that he released something like "the undertaker" (raw, stripped down brand new original songs--excepting honky tonk and bambi of course), or something with a little more balls to it--in other words, something DARING. jackson browne's album "running on empty" was all new material recorded live... wouldn't that have been cool? smile as opposed to trotting out the tried-and-trues only this time, "LIVE!"

my point in bringing all of this up is that if this is the last installment of the agreement from the NPGMC this year, it's a gyp. it's one of the reasons i didn't renew this year, i had a feeling it might end up like this. i know that others are completely happy with the club (with the preferred seating and all--i never get a chance to go to shows anymore cuz i work too much--heh!), and that's cool for them, but it wasn't for me this year.

sorry if this sounds a little bitter--understand i still love the man, and i love his music, but the method that he is dishing it out to his fanbase is dubious at best in my opinion.

ok! end of rant! smile i hope this didn't piss anyone off too furiously, just throwing out my lil opinion on the matter. smile

Well, yeah, but as for #2, he's got the shiznit recorded to at least give us Xenophobia, at least according to Candy Dulpher's website. A lot of that work is already done.

OK, I'll eat crow and admit I'm a big fat liar. I joined this years club strictly for the perks and considered ANY music to be icing on the cake. I will undoubtedly join next year for the concert perks as well. I'm listening to the ONA show I attended and it's bringing back incredible memories of how amazing, fantastic, outstanding and special that night was. I got into the soundcheck (45 min), had 3rd row seats (actually it was front row but they set up 2 rows of seats in front so front row became 3rd), a 2 1/2 hour kick ass concert, free entry into the 2 hour aftershow and for my very first Prince aftershow I was 4 feet from the stage right in front of where Sheila E played on stage. In all, even though the thought of Prince renigging on the albums promoted in the ONA tourbook, I really can't say that I am disappointed with what I got for my money this year.

I'm such a freak!

I want new studio material. Most of us have already seen the ONA tour a few times. Plus, most of us already have boots of the show. I know that is not his concern, but we joined with the hopes of getting at least two studio CD's. I'm excited about ONA Live. But I'm more excited about Xenophobia and whatever "The Last December" is supposed to be. But I think we should calm down. We'll get our stuff, but it will be late as usual.

Dude, Prince should have thought of that before he promised all this stuff to the members. He's been in the business long enough. The club is nothing but misleading promises and vaporware. They need to be sued.

As soon as I get my ONA Live, I will burn a copy for myself and sell the original on EBay to get some of my damn money back.

True, he's overcommitted himself, no doubt, but I still think he'll come through. Maybe there'll be one more studio album to come - Xenophobia maybe - bringing the total to 5 Cds, 3 albums (plus a world tour, celebration 2002 etc).

Let's face it, he's got enough in the vault to knock out a couple of albums if he feels the need.

Sadly, I really doubt he feels "the need"

I know I'll end up rejoining, but I am disappointed if this is it for year 3, for all the reasons so eloquently spelled out before me...

From the beginning I have been astounded to see Prince say he would give us as club members 3 or 4 cds of new music. With the limited distribution & the internet/download situation it was kinda crazy.
Looks like it was too good to be true.

kinda makes u wonder, prince himself feeling "enslaved" 'cuz he can't put out more then 1 'studio-cd" a year, and in year 2 of the club he puts out a 'piano&vocals'- demo and a 3 cd livebox

IF this is the truth, (but i'm keeping my hopes up...)
