Personal replies from NPGMC

Has anyone ever had a personal reply from an e-mail to the NPGMC?

It seems to me that they either send a standard reply to the most common e-mails or ignore you completely. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've probably sent them about a dozen e-mails in the last couple years, and out of those, they've replied 10 times, and more than half were personal replies. Short and quick e-mails tend to get the replies, I think.

Dear OmManiPadmeHum,

Your orders have not been cancelled. There was a computer glitch which caused some of the orders to show cancelled even though they were not. We have you on order for order #??? for 2 tickets to London on 10-3 and order
#??? for 1 ticket to London on 10-4 & 10-5.

Peace, Lori

Before the Celebration this this I sent a couple of emails with a list of questions and someone took the time to copy and paste my questions with a personal reply.

So I think it depends on how your letter is worded and the candor in which you express your questions, opinions, etc.

How would you like to have to answer all these questions from crazy Prince fans? I feel sorry for the person who has to answer the NPGMC mail.

If there are 20,000 members and every member sends in 5 emails a year (and I know many of the fams send WAY more then this) that's over a 100,000 email questions a year.

So how would you like it if your job was to reply to 100,000 emails?

I'd like it very much when each of those 20,000 members paid $100 and provided me with a nice job!

What do you think the person who answers the NPGMC email makes? I doubt it's very much as it's not skilled labor and Prince is very cheap.

Seems this Lori person is very reasonable. I have had a couple of short but friendly and factual emails in response to queries about the ONA CD etc.

After recieving TWO copies of ONA from the NPGMC, I mailed them to let them know of their mistake (too honest)...

Anyway, I had a really nice e-mail from them, wishing me a happy birthday and that I could keep the extra copy of the disc! There was no need for me to return it!

Happy days

I can't wait for 2 copies of ONA LIVE!

I spent $100 on a shirt yesterday and didn't expect the company that made the shirt to kiss my ass and bow down to my every whim. $100 is nothing, less than most concert tickets in the U.S. Give them a break. If it was me answering email, every other reply would be a big "F--- YOU, Get a Life!" smile

big difference between buying a product and providing a service bucko darko.. wink

if you called your telephone company and they told you to *f-you, get a life", wouldnt you cancel your service and go with another company?

prince needs to break up this one package deal..if people were allowed to hear the music prior to purchasing or they knew exactly what they were paying for, maybe then id consider this npgmc thingie a product...but, since he is making future commitments, he is providing a service and should treat the clientelle accordingly...

I wish my phone company charged $100 for a whole year!!! Prince makes music for himself, not the fans. Exactly as it should be. And fans can choose to get it or not. Either way, he will still make music whether 10 people buy it or 10 million. He's an artist, not a phone company, not amazon.com, not Warner Brothers. To equate him with any of those things is to completely devalue what Prince is and what he creates. He made a club so the people who want his music the most could get it directly. He didn't create it to listen to a bunch of fans tell him what to do and when.

prince isnt making music for himself..he is making music to fullfill his $100 CONtract with me...and everyone else who joined the npgmc...

i listened to a very interesting interview about vocation vs evocation and the impact making a hobbie or pleasure your job...the end results was that people's productivity and quality declines...

i think prince really needs to reconsider his npmc package...first off, he needs to allow for single disc purchases...this $100 up front and no specific information is a load of crap...if people had the choice of choosing to purchase each disc at release, then there would be less frustration.

ive recommended this before but here it is again:

package 1= $100 dollars for all perks

package 2= $25 yearly membership [additional fees as follows; $25 for concert perks, $15 per album (optional and chosen as each disc is released- each album will allow .30 second samples of each song so that member can choose if they want to purchase it or not)]

now, prince, i know u hate CONtracts and all so why not give your fans a nonCONtract option?

maybe then it wont feel like a chore to be a fan...and the fanatics wont have to complain when everyone else is complaining (rightfully so) about the lack of service from your company...

back to the vocation thing...

prince needs to *not* make the albums part of the club thingie...giving a set amount of albums (guaranteed) must damage his creative flow...he is setting himself up for a major writers block...

i love you, skelly. prince sure could help make his music seem like less of a chore for him AND his fans if he would take this advice. having people pay upfront for an unknown quantity of albums (and maybe downloads...remember the "surprise downloadS" they mentioned? apparently they meant one that was already up last year (silicon) and a teaser for a live album that 2 months later NOBODY has or even knows if it will be released OR if it will count as part of the package...and let me say right now that if this is the only thing we get then i'll do everything i can in the future to screw prince out of his money just like he screwed us out of ours), and then the concert perks...which, admittedly, in MY CASE were quite nice, but like sdldawn says, I PAID $200 for those damn seats...not to mention about 12 hours of stressing while the npgmc site crashed repeatedly...

the whole pay-up-front thing is just silly...especially for an artist who is so infamous for losing interest in projects and not seeing them through to fruition...warner brothers can't be blamed now, can they princey??

by the way, all y'all who get upset at the fans who are vocal about their disappointment...in the words of a once-famous man, "fuck all y'all!" - prince is ALWAYS bold and outspoken...there is no reason for any of you to expect us to act any different...prince is no better of a person than any of us, just a better musician. admittedly, a FANTASTIC musician...

does anyone else see prince as a shuckster from the 20's hawking potions and tonics from a cart along the side of the road??? "pheromone make a nigga go crazy, pheromone make a nigga wanna die."
