I read in the wikipedia that this album was released through his website.Now that the site is gone does anyone know if it was released as an album or where I can hear the songs?

Never officially released as a hard copy. It was only available for download from NPGMC.

In the first version of the NPG Music Club, every month Prince released several "new" songs, as well as video(s) and an hour-long Ahdio show (typo intentional). The songs and the Ahdio show were released as MP3 files - no DRM (digital rights management). Everyone who was part of this first incarnation paid a $100 lifetime membership fee, which included the monthly downloads, premium seating at concerts, and we received the ONA/ONA Live box set. We were also able to download C-Note and Xpectation toward the end of Year One (which spanned Valentine's Day 2001 to Valentine's Day 2002).

Most of the songs on The Chocolate Invasion (and The Slaughterhouse) were released during Year One of the NPGMC. Most, not all . . . and the ones that were released through the Musicology Store were often longer and/or slightly remixed versions. Some were different enough to be called alternate versions in their own right.

I doubt you will be able to legally find these albums, as they exist only in download form. A lot of us who DID download them are even unable to play them, since the website is closed to renew the DRM licenses.

Good luck finding them . . . until you do, I suggest just completing the rest of your collection!

1 not so funny thing. i might (should) still have my DRM licenses..
intacked..what ever u call it.but the files are on a data-cd
And is lost in a couple of spindals of identcal CD-R's
(thats unless u need to keep renewin it)

But yes, C-Note just happens to be slang for a $100 bill, which just happens to be what the membership cost . . .

I also believe that C-Note was an experiment to see how "contained" or "secret" the downloads were. Not everyone officially got every download; they were supposed to be region-specific. There wasn't even a proper C-NOTE album title until much later.

Slight correction, you are confusing years 1 and 2 - Year One you got the Ahdio Shows every month (including one month the pre-release version of TRC) plus videos and extra tracks for premium members (you could buy the ahdio shows one-off every month or pay out $100 for year long premium membership).

Year Two you had to pay $100 with the promise of 4 CDs (which turned out to be the ONA live boxset including the ONA CD) plus you got the chance at premium seating at concerts. At the end of the year the tracks of C-NOTE were released for download in a semi-hidden regional form, and Xpectation put up for download.

i'm working on a way around those license backup problems....if the mods alllow it i'll post when it's done...i do miss the club though...can't imagine not being in the first few rows for a show
