Could someone please help? When Prince closed down npgmusicclub.com, how do fans get the music and videos that they purchased through the club? I had purchased for example, "Prince Much Music, Call My Name, and Vanguard" just to name a few, but when I tried to download these masterpieces, the page that the music used to be purchased from had a message that says. "Sorry but we find this page."

I tried to download and copy this music when I bought it to an alternative place on my computer so if something like this happened, I would always have the music and videos, but I didn't know how to do it. The names of the music and videos are on my "c drive," but I can't download them. I thought once the music and videos were purchased, that we acquired the license and the right to own the music in terms of it being ours to play at any time. What's gives? I know must of you are very fimilar and knowledgeable about matters like this especially since it concerns Prince. How do I get my paid music and videos?

Any help is greatly appriciated!!

if you made any changes to your computer, then you probably lost the license. that is the downside to DRM files. You can try to go into WMP and restore your license (hopefully you backed them up).

you do have the right to listen to them, with the license, if you lose the license, then you lose the song/video.

Similar thing has happened to me. Lost the licenses when I did a full system restore. Didn't even think about it.

Thanks for the information. That was nice to know. I did install a new windows xp on my computer because it wasn't working properly. I still have the disk for this. Do you think uninstalling this new windows xp, backing up the licences (wrong spelling)and then transferring the music to my system will help? By the way what is WMP I'm kinda new at this and do have to call Mircosoft for help in this regards? The last time I phoned them to help me install the new system, they charged a seventy-eight dollar fee?

restoring wont bring bach the license, unfortunately. WMP=Windows Media Player. You should ALWAYS backup your license files before you make any changes to your system.

There is a chance you can recover them if you did an overlay of your installation and not a format on your hard drive, but it is hard to do. You have to understand how the windows registry works because you have to make changes to the registry settings. I don't recommend trying it if you have never done it before.

I am sure microsoft could help you, but yep, they will charge you and arm and a leg.
