Anxiety vs. NPGMC: Has It Come To This?

Message sent to NPGMC after my THIRD request regarding the whereabouts of my ONA CD, at which point they responded with a message that amounted to "we don't know; should we look into it?" I'll refrain from posting their responses out of respect for the folks at NPGMC...I realize I'm pushing it by posting MY e-mail...but I wanted folks who are thinking of joining to have a reason to think twice before they blow their hard-earned hundred bucks. I'm not saying you shouldn't join NPGMC...I'm just another voice opining that it's an iffy operation.

Anyway, here it is:

[Name Deleted],

I understand that shipments leave NPGMC in waves. I seem to have been excluded from several of these waves, and I don't know why. I am going on three months of waiting for a disc that other people seem to have received without problems. Why?

Yes, please, check to see if my copy of ONA was included on the most recent wave or will be included on the next wave. I'm not sure what's become so difficult about shipping a CD from Minnesota (presumably) to Chicago, but if it's too much of a task for NPGMC to complete, please let me know and we can arrange for a refund. I frequently ship care packages from Chicago to loved ones in various places throughout the country, and it's really easy. You just pack it, take it to the post office, pay for the postage and it's a done deal. Very easy, actually.

Pardon the sarcasm, but I'm VERY upset over this. Did I mention I've been waiting since May?

I've been a loyal follower of Prince's art for over twenty years, and I would hate to see all those years of music and love and enjoyment end on a sour note. Actually, I would hate to see it end, period.

This is the longest I've ever had to wait for anything I've ever ordered online. This is the longest I've ever had to wait for anything I've ever ordered in general, EVER. I know other people have gotten their copies. Why haven't I?

Why?

Send me an acceptable explanation and a solid timeframe for what "wave" will include my CD, send my copy of ONA NOW, or mail me a refund for $100 ASAP.

I've been too loyal a fan to be treated this way.

I am VERY unhappy with NPGMC.

Please - please? - fix this.

Thank you,
[Anx]

Dude, that sucks for you man...I got mine (in Los Angeles) the second week it was released and I joined the club this year. Has anyone burned you a copy yet? I'll be happy to do it!

Thanks for the offer. I think I want to take the ethical high road and get the real deal from the source. Meanwhile, isn't it ironic that it's easier for me to get a CD-R copy of this than it is for me to get it from the source? "Brave New World" my behind.

You tell them Anx!

I really wonder about the staff at NPGMC. I recently asked a SIMPLE question about the Rave In2 cd and it took me 3 emails before I got a straight answer out of them.

With all the mess that's been going on lately with the supposed Paisley Park party, I'm beginning to wonder if Prince's Elfin Workshop isn't undergoing a bit of a toxic meltdown? Has the little man finally bitten off WAY more than he can chew?

Maybe he should just sign to a nice, musician-friendly indie label, let them worry about distribution and marketing, and worry about what he does best - making music.

Or he could have a nice, long meeting with the folks who run David Bowie's and David Lynch's fansites, and perhaps learn a thing or two about how to keep his fan base happy.

Meanwhile, it's squeaky wheel time...

If you didn't join until May the reason that you haven't received your cd is because they said that they would ship out the ONA cd to the people who joined late with the second cd which should be shipped soon.

If you joined in February this really sucks and you have every right to be pissed.

I've heard this explanation from other people on the Org and on AMP - why am I not getting this explanation from NPGMC? Lord knows I've been corresponding with them enough lately; they just keep tripping over their own feet, saying "we don't know" and "we'll look into it", and my FAVORITE, "we sent all copies of ONA out already - allow 10 to 15 days" (that was a month ago).

Fact is, they need to get their house in order, because it's a mess.
