Weird feelings of remorse over NPGMC I was just looking over the HQ list of Prince releases and came across The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse. I never downloaded those "albums" because I had the individual songs from previous NPGMC releases. For an instant, I felt like my collection was incomplete. These were completely "virtual" releases, anyone else get that feeling? Did you download the "album" even when you had the songs? Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I have downloaded them but they wont leave my PC because (callme weird) but I hate homemade CDs and would never include them in my CD Collection.
I wouldnt have downloaded them if I hadnt lost 1 or 2 of teh trax. One thing NPGMC wase xcellent at was getting money for old rope (and shit rope at that). I wont miss NPGMC except for maybe the possibility that I may have got soem decent tickets for a show. In my experience with them it was always a cock up the first time and, if you got a second bite at teh cherry, then it was ok. eg Downloads (didt work first time, fine when able to re-download teh albums) Tickets - cocked up my first go at Tour tickets...never been a tour since (His world tours never leave US/Canada soil) What else did the NPGMC offer...exactly!!!

Not to make you feel worse, but some of the tracks on The Chocolate Invasion were slightly extended compared to the original individual releases, and also there was the original version of The Dance which was different to the 3121 version. Thing with the NPGMC, it would suddenly get a lot of new/old tracks to download and then there would be months without anything new. It would have been far better to put up something original and new every week or so, that really would have kept people coming back. I miss it for the possibility of the odd new track, but not for much more.

I'm sure that the next incarnation of the official site will have a download store similar to what was there already, and I would bet all the tracks that were up for download will be back again in due time.
They had a "beta" version of the new Musicology download store that might even be reborn in the new site, whenever that arrives. But I would bet it'll be sooner than later and I wouldn't beat myself up over a couple internet albums that you had 85% of already. Your real losses are the longer versions that showed up unannounced on those albums, and it was only a handful of tracks, including the original version of "The Dance" that metalorange mentioned. If you'd like to be cheered up, the version of S&M Groove that showed up on The Slaughterhouse album was further edited for content ("nigger" was edited out, as well as a few other swear words that made it through on the release of the song in an earlier year of the club), and it was far worse than the previously released version. In new configurations, slightly edited so some folks will buy 'em again maybe?
