The sight has gone as far as it can go? what the hell....you give us a sample of new music and a week later close the sight....i never really cared 4 the sight...but the benifets were good every now and then.....how can prince close a money making sight .....this is really disapointing.....theres gotta be something up.....i dont mind paying 4 it...all i can hope is they do something new.....mabye pull some music out of his A$$

interesting...
more people crying than feeling relieved. I always thought that the general attitude here on org was very much against the club, especially the Paisley Park people (or whatever their nicknames were). And I pretty much agreed with that, the club was really a crap, made for people of a mindset of teenagers, with all its lavish graphics and what's-not while it hardly ever provided the music which was the basic point after all. But of course I will always cherish the great seats and the soundcheck on the tour in 2002. But it was just too few of such benefits to make the whole project really worthwhile. As I see it, it's just about revamping, taking more money (the membership fee was lifetime, right? - how long can lifetime be, after all???) and doing the same thing. Jesus, it's just music, Prince makes it, we buy it - what else do you need for that? ______________

I allso had a felling a life time membership..wouldnt last long but what sucks is they teased us with something new...just the minute 1/2 demo..was enough,the only cool thing they done in years...i thought they might be on 2 something...then out of know where...its gone... My guess there working on something...or hireing a new staff to run it. I wouldnt be suprised if they send all members updates.....but by chance they do....its gonna be a while | |

I have no idea what is going to happen, but I cannot believe that Prince is going to go without a proper web-presence for too long. Certainly if he wants to re-launch the site, there will be far more interest now than if he had simply updated it as he went. I think it's interesting that the Musicology store had a 'beta' version, and the new 'demo' room, as though they were trying new things relatively recently. I can't believe that work was for nothing and will be integrated into a new design.
I hope that this time there will be an open club free for anyone interested in Prince to check out and browse through and get information from.Then they can have a members only part where we still get up-front tickets and discounts. I hope that all the tracks from the musicology store and again made available - with the drm protection, if your hard-drive gets screwed up or whatever, you may need to re-download what you've bought - I know I've had to do that once before - it's a system they should honour into the future if they choose to use drm since it makes backing up especially videos quite difficult. I have a feeling that when the new club reopens (and whow knows, maybe this time it will be at 3121.com instead of the npgmc.com?) we will all get stung with having to buy NEW lifetime memberships. I guess you could argue that the lifetime referred to the lifetime of the club and not us! but it would certainly put a few noses out of joint I'm sure. | |

I just wanna give a big  and  to the people who RAN the club - the designers and the PPs - for putting a LOAD of hard work into the club. It can't be easy to work with someone like Prince on a project like this, though I'm sure it can be rewarding. I hope now that this stage is over, it can be looked back upon as the good experience they all hoped it would be back when they signed on.

Some of you all have not been around long enough to know that the NPGMC is always "closed down" before it changes into a new look with different features etc. The name has changed from 1-800-NEW-FUNK to Love4OneAnother to the NPGMC.
So I don't know what the club will be called in the future or how it's going to look when it's finished, but it's highly unlikely that Prince will move away from having an on-line presence. As far as the NPGMC itself is concerned, I tend to agree with their thinking for going on hiatus. In all honesty it probably really is time for them to rethink the purpose and usefullness of the club. For instance, I like the idea of being able to download new music, but there is something about downloading music that cheapens it's value. Being from the old school, there's still something special about an official release of an actual hard copy cd with artwork and lyrics etc that makes the music more valuable. I hope they take some time to analyze their mistakes and improve it.
The NPGMC was a great idea, but it wasn´t developed the way it should have been. The priority concert tickets were a great idea, and even the Ahdios were cool. But why not offer more rehearsals, soundcheck and exclusive audio/video concerts for download? Imagine for example if the members had access of Prince jamming with the NPG in Paisley (ok, we had it with ´Habibi´ but why not more)? That would have been cool! Long live the new NPGMC |

I don't think anyone should be bitching about "lifetime" membership, not if they'd been a member for over a year already. It was going to close sooner or later!!
I think there'll be a new, quite basic site for a new album (when it's ready). Samples like the one we had recently, the album for download, perhaps members ticket allocations for a tour, basic news, and an online shop. That'll be it... I think !
Basically nothing that requires full time moderators or daily updates. Cheap to run. | |

Couldn't care less about what the NPGMC evolved in2 in its final stages.
Stopped visiting there regularly many months ago..in amongst bannition and broken promises, not 2 mention sloppy moderation and a primary sales focus, everybody,including Prince, is probably a whole lot better off without it. Between this site and HQ, fans get all they need in terms of news, music and videos minus alot of the airheads that frequented that ghost town of a site. Prince should b plannin retirement. | |
