I thought this stage of the club was really dire actually - There really wasn't any reason to login to the site at all except on the rare occasions that a new song was put up for sale. The monthly downloads was a much more interesting idea, at least for fans.

I feel ripped off just for that, but that's typical Prince, he doesn't really care about his fans.

NPGMC R.I.P. ..... It's just a shame that I never got to use my 25$ to the fullest, since Prince hasn't toured Europe since I joined in early '05.... However the discounts on downloads were of course very nice, and since the exchange rate between the dollar and Icelandic krona has been rather decent this past year, I've bought all the essential stuff and burned to CD... I still hope that he DOES start a new download store, preferrably with some goodies from the vault + new stuff... One of the few things I really liked about the NPG Music Club (and one of the few things useful to me) was the download store, with its member discounts and the fact that it didn't matter where you were geographically, unlike the situation with iTunes, which unfortunately is not available in Iceland ... ... So, anywho, I hope that however the next Prince website will be, that they keep exclusive member offers for tickets (especially if Prince decides to tour Europe) and that the site will feature some new, unreleased music.....

However, you can't really blame people if the some NPGMC fams are made fun of a little bit. A lot of people who spent ALL their time on the NPG forums seemed to bad mouth the Org & HQ quite a bit and now....well....Karma has a strange way of working, doesn't it?

I think the hiatus/closing/demise/whatever of the NPGMC is the PERFECT opportunity for everyone to start with a (relitively) clean slate. But that is contingent on everyone being willing to give people a chance.



PS. I totally agree with you about getting more notice before shutting it down. I mean, they could have closed certain sections at a time (e.g. Forums, 3121, reflection) and left the Musicology open until a certain date so people had a chance to make sure they had all their files in order. And I *still* haven't received the email making the announcment.
