Huh? I'm confused...

The Song Formerly Known As "Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful".

lol - only on a Prince site could someone write an acronym like that and be understood...

Honestly, I like it the way that it is. I'm not a music snob....I like music as long as it's funky, I don't care what flaws it has. The only thing I'll say about this is that I would like to see Larry add some bass toward the end of the song and let it ride instrumental like SST and Brand New Orleans.

that joints tight... this is why prince never seems like he cares about the albums he's promoting... his minds already in the next project.

It sounds like,,,

Get on the boat and Beautiful Loved and Blessed had a bastard lovechild.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

The funny thing is he's gone end up with hundreds of comments, so which does he choose? Of coure he's likely to choose the ones that match his own idea of what the song should sound like anyway!

I mean, it is like when the police ask for descriptions of a robber and they get back 'He's a tall short man, of average to obese build, thin, blonde going on black-haired, clean shaved with a red beard, with only 1 or 2 arms..."

Prince is going to learn that what the fans really want is a jazz-influenced hard-rock funksoul synth-driven song, acoustic, with electric guitars to the fore, bass to the fore, drums to the fore, stripped down with multi-layered production, vocals featuring a deep gravelly falsetto, with backing vocals by Wendy, Lisa, Susannah, Vanity, Apollonia, Rosie Gaines - but not Tamar. And with Cowbells to the fore.

This demo sounds exactly what I would expect!!

Nothing really new. Now to think about how Prince has reinvent his sound time and time again. I'm not saying this new song is terrible. I'm just saying it sounds like he has been there done that.

The vocals R slammin'. He hasn't used those voices, in that way, in ages... and man does it work here. Pure Prince.

Strong chorus. Strong hook.

It really doesn't need 2 much.

A) Lower the pitch of the bell.

B) Add a Linn handclap every 8 beats.

C) Add a serious Funk Bass line... Thumb and pop... Minneapolis style.

D) Add Funk Guitar with Hohner (of course).

E) Add some piano.

F) Add Blues guitar solo... clean or dirty.

G) Minimal horns optional, but must be real... I hear swells followed by one or 2 staccato hits.

BAM. There it is.

Peace.

I think undoubtedly the strongest, most interesting aspect of this song is the vocals. Other than that I don't hear too much to really get me excited, though the overall groove of the song is kinda pleasant. I would make bass and drums a little harder and have some nice hohner work in there. I certainly wouldn't want to overload it with horn parts, more synths and whatnot as I don't think that would in any way improve the track. You gots to work with what you gots to work with, so I think my suggestions would be enough to make this song the best it could be, that is quite a good track.

If I were Prince I'd shut the clubs doors for good.

And only let people go to paisley to physically access the music since no matter what he does since 98 it gets shit on.
