I normally don't ride the Larry hate train, but come on...what's up with the audio from Larry's Vegas performance but none from Prince's or even Tamar's performance. Did Larry perform new material? confused

Paying for it twice is bad enough...but you also have to remember that it's now a DRM Windows Media Player file and not the original DRM-free mp3 that was released back in '01.

It's nice (and way overdue) for the ahdio shows to become available again for members who weren't around a few years ago, I suppose. But how about something that would be great for ALL members -- something previously unreleased?

See above. We had to pay for it first time round, too - I don't see the issue here. It's like releasing an album (or, say, a compilation), and then re-releasing it again 5 years later only to have people say "you have to pay for this album?"

i don't see a problem with charging for the ahdio show, but i think 7.77 for members is a bit steep. i see it being worth 4, maybe even 5 bucks?

the cheaper it is, the more casual/new fans they're gonna attract. most of the diehards already own the ahdio stuff.

lol. how about putting the ahdioshows up on their site in streams
and have them there all the time for free so people can sample an
other side of prince (the casual fans strolling in).

how about putting up decent quality downloads for the tunes that
they do have in the store already, like GlassCutter, Magnificent
etc.

That's actually a great idea.
I suppose he could also have offered them as podcasts, although then he's just giving them away free, which would have angered all those who paod $100 in year one.

I guess they see "about an hour" for each of the Ahdio shows and have decided to consider it an album -- thus arriving at the $7.77 member price. neutral

Remember all the bitching back in 2001 when the Ahdio shows were 45 minutes instead of the "hour" we were promised? biggrin

i guess when you're talking about a fanbase who'll pay 312 bucks for a concert, 7.77 for NPGMC leftovers is a deal. nod

True...but that $312 gets you something new and fresh...guess the 4x price is the premium for new vs. hand-me-downs. smile

It would be nice if your proof of membership during the first year gave you access to these things for no additional charge. Although, if you have the original mp3s (weren't the "hi" versions just 128 kbps though?) why would you want to bother with drm files?

now i wasnt really a member back in 01 - didnt have a home pc then so had no access to any of this stuff.

what is on ahdio1?? and are any of the 'future' ahdio shows gonna be worth my £. I figure this is going to cost £4 to £5 at most so cheap really - providing there are some gems worth having somewhere...

For those of u who weren't members, I wouldn't waste my time on Ahdio show 1. It was ok, but if u have "The Slaughterhouse" and "The Chocolate Invasion", u can live without it. Keep your ears open for Ahdio show 11, 5 and 9. Those are three of my alltime favorites. I still listen to 9 and 11 on a regular basis.

Why all the hatin'? I suppose we don't all need to go into the whole music on the npgmc debate again. Personally I'm glad Prince has released more music on his site, that I don't have.

Sorry to everyone who already has everything prince ever did, but he did release 3121 a couple of months ago so just soak up that a little more while I digest some newer stuff!

45mins of a live show $7.77 - hey, its only £3.50 for me so its like buying a CD Single here in the UK, so I'm not "too" fussed really. Though if there are 12 of these or something it'll start getting annoying.

I think the GCS stuff is up there because I heard he will be touring with Prince this summer, I heard that from T17 who said he was chatting with Prince and LG at the Purple Ticket party. Hope you don't mind me repeating that T17 (you posted it on a forum so I didn't think it'd matter!).

Anyway, looking forward to getting home and downloading these! smile

By the way, this DRM thing? Is that why my MP3-CD player wouldn't play the NPGMC downloads? Do I have to burn them to audio cd, then rip them back to mp3s to be able to play them on my mp3/cd player?

hmmm I must have missed that thread/post by T17! Can you give me a hint where it is, I'd like to read it! I'm most interested in any tour news. biggrin
