Actually ...
I listened to this 1999 remix with headphones (and the volume turned up rather high), and I must say - I rather enjoyed this one.

Isn't it great how you can have these little surprises.

I remember the first time I heard the "New Master" of "1999."
It was an afterparty at the Frankfurt Airport in 1998.
After Prince showed up, he sat at a table around 10 meters from me and my then-wife and the dj played the new remix.

I have to admit:
I LIED TO PRINCE.

I gave him the "ok" sign.

Of course I bought the maxi-single when it was released shortly after, but haven't listened to it since then.

This "keep steppin'" version was unique in it's drum programming, but other than that, still a waste of purple time.
