Yeesh - that was pretty heavily 'cleaned' in the studio. I sincerely hope Prince puts out a DVD of the Xenophobia stuff. I would hate to see more Quicktime video like last year - who the heck is doing his encoding? Looked like he shot it out of iMovie with default settings.

Ive got two comments:

1) I wonder if this is in responce to all the *complaining* about non-exclusivity from npgmc.

2) while just a tease, the file does prove that Prince just cant capture his essence on albums lately..This song has a certain vitality that is missing on the entire TRC disc...Its a great listen...

I haven't heard it yet, but when I was there, I was dissapointed that they had taken out the "whoop" noise that is usually joined to the 4th clap/snare.

That's what made the song so cool! (in past live concert)

Wasn´t Xenophobia supposed to be an instrumental, jazzy album or something? I remember someone saying they´d heard it be played in the background at Paisley Park already.

A brief disclaimer...

Yes, this live version of 1+1+1=3 is full of energy, but it's really more of an advertisement than a stand-alone download. The song is interrupted TWICE with commercials, and the version is far shorter than the "10 minutes" that Prince is heard promising to the lucky concert attendees.

So to all who haven't heard it or have not yet joined Club, this is NOT a complete download of a live version of 1+1+1=3. It's a promotional teaser - and as such, I find it very effective. The part about all of this that's exciting is the prospect of live video/sound footage from Xenophobia.

The cynic in me wonders if this announcement was posted to discourage complaints that he played similar sets on 2 nights of the Celebration. Obviously, many of the Celebration attendees had seen one or more ONA performances before. As we all know, some Prince fans are quick to complain after having paid "all that money, wah, wah, wah..."

Lastly, the optimist in me hopes that the footage turned out so incredibly well, that Prince has since decided to release it on DVD to NGPMC Members, and the mp3 snippet of 1+1+1=3 is the advanced promotion for it! I, for one, hope that it doesn't get relegated to a downloadable movie - I'd much rather see it played on my home DVD-HDTV-stereo system.
