She's on the "inside" looking ouuuuuttttt

I'd shit some bricks if I got to report for NPGMC but then I would get over it and get to the point of the story and tell you about the time I saw Prince picking his nose when he thought nobody was listening.

Has Violet be hypnotised!? She used to sound so normal, now she sounds like a brainwashed sheep on speed.

falloff Yo I was thinking the same thing. Its like Jim Jones and Arsenio Hall got together and started a "journalism" school, and Violet's this year's valedictorian. lol

Took the words out of my mouth. I read her report and thought: "Dang, she writes like Prince's cult member." But, I guess he figures AP or Reuters will give the nuts-and-bolts report and that Violet Brown will give it all his spin. "... every petal dropped, every coy look..." ill

She wants to keep the invites coming...and I'll wager they will.
So...how's everybody doing? smile

Jesus Horatio Christ. That "report" is a fucking trainwreck.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

When asked about Universal, Prince wanted to make it clear that basically his deal with them is the same as with Sony in 2004.

Basically. Like a pickle is basically like a cucumber. nod

It is not a contract.

Yes, huge multinational corporations like Universal often agree about the transfer of hundreds of thousands of dollars with a handshake. nod

He challenged all artists 2 question their respective deals and ask about digital rights, ownership of master recordings and sequel rights. Upon closer examination, alot of these clauses r suspect.

That's why Prince signed with a company that has all of its other artists sign-off on these suspect clauses. He's all about the cause, that Prince. nod

And he'll be independent for long time.

Yes (if by "independent" you mean in bed with the very kind of company he slagged-off when he left Warner's and claimed he'd never do business with again). nod

Any deal is within his interest and a structured agreement to his liking.

Well, there's certainly no room for ambiguity there, is there? falloff

Ace, c ing as u r not returning 2 r original discussion, let's c if u'll respond here...

U seem 2 have a blief regarding P's principles, or lack of, n everything u c is CONfirming that blief, but what u seemingly fail 2 recognise is that u r viewing things from only 1 frame of reference, namely, ur own. With such self-CONfirmatory bias, is it n e wonder that u r so entrenched n ur viewpoint?

4 1, eye don't blieve P set out on his path 2wards artistic freedom with n e intention 2 do justice 2 n e 1 else but himself. The notion that his position now is CONtadictory 2 this, is false. He's still doing whatever he is doing 4 himself, n himself ONLY. It appears 2 b "u", 4 some reason, imposing upon P a standard, or principle, which he never took upon himself, this idea that he should b an ambassador 4 every other artist's plight with the industry.

Furthermore, n perhaps more importantly, eye think it would b unwise 2 lose sight of the fact that, irrespective of the reasons y P CONsidered himself a slave, his path 2wards the freedom he fought 4 was not without significant emotional turmoil. Holding n e person 2 their thoughts n feelings at such pivotal turning points n their life, especially those littered with strong emotion, seems hugely unrealistic, not 2 mention, somewhat unfair.

True that! And it's unfortunate, because I waded through the Prince speak, and I totally agree with what he is saying. But like a lot of NPGMC-speak, the opportunity for real communication gets lost due to the desire to reinvent a language that isn't broken.
