The latest in NPGMC unsatisfaction

I look at it this way. Its better than nothing. If Prince had nothing online, there would be plenty of bitching. The site has won awards so someone, must think it is doing or did something of value. It is still up so it must be getting hits.

I know this: when people ask me how I got in the front row for 4 or 5 shows and actually got a Watchtower from Prince's hand during a concert, all I can say is that I am a devoted NPG member. I have seen the angry faces of concert goers when security escorts NPG members into the venue ahead of them and it has always made me feel as if I got what I deserved as a devoted fan that bought everything Prince ever released and saw every tour since 1978. When I tell them about seeing Prince up so close that I could read the words in his lyric book on stage during an amazing aftershow that I got into for nothing while others were paying $100, people always ask me how I managed that. Or when I play a track that they have never heard and then ask me where I got it, There is no way to deny the value of the NPG music club. I wont even get into the funky collectibles (like that beautiful Emancipation lyric book and Neo Manifesto) and entire albums (like Xpectation) that I have gotten from the site since its original 1800NEWFUNK incarnation as they are too numerous to discuss here.

I guess I am just saying that admidst all the bitching, a comprehensive perspective on Prince's online business is due. I speak as a person who has been there from day one - I joined the day the site went up and I have not left since. While it is obvious that there are people who disagree, it has paid off for me quite well. Call me horny - I dont care...cause I am in the front row - again.

Thanks - no need to respod to the usual band of haters that wish they could think like me but can only make tapes of other peoples' work and ride my jock. Why are they even reading a long ass post like this unless they are truly interested in EVERYTHING I have to say? lol

I can't believe I'm typing this but no one here is hating! (Ok, this time anyway...but that's beside the point!)

You title your post about "The latest in NPGMC unsatisfaction" then you go on to express what appears to be undeniable satisfaction. We're just trying to understand your point. Perhaps if you change the title, it'll all make sense.

Laugh at what you cant comprehend. It hides ignorance sometimes. Some people dug it and co signed. Others chose the negative route. Its all good though.

After I got stuck in nosebleed at MSG for last year's Musicology show I decided to join the NPG. (I have NEVER in my life joined someone's 'official' fan club.) So far it's okay--I just don't understand why we are finding out all the important news like his siging with Motown, the press conference, the world tour from other sources. Shouldn't we be getting this news first from his official club?
But if the tour thing is for real I am SUPER excited about being able to get seats up front and go to Aftershows. For that, $25 is totally worth it.

The org and HQ threads are more interesting than the NPG Snoozic Club's anyway.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I agree with this thread 100%. As far as the last comment, I don't think the club was ever set up to be a news source. It is there just for entertainment purposes.
Oh, and you should have seen the look on these ladie's faces when I gave them my two 2nd row club seats in exchange for their nosebleed seats. At some, or most of the venues the sound up front was horrendous and much clearer in the nosebleeds. So you never know. Club seats aren't always all that.

2 Sides to everytale...tell me if you would be smug if you had the same experience as me.

Ive Been an NPGMC member since day one too...but had nothing like the experiences you have - is it fair that one members experience should be so different to anothers?

Lates take just gigs top save time....

The only tour that has come my way since NPGMC started was ONA....and guess what, despite my loyal membership I was sat nice and firmly at the back because NPGMC ballsed up my tickets. But what really rubbed the salt in was smug twats like you being told by Prince to turn round, face us and chant "join the club".

Its a shame because,if the other WORLD tours that had been promised actually left US/Canada soil, then NPGMC mightnotr have 100% failure rate in my eyes...still, once you have the $$$$ in you hand it must be tempting not to deliver.

NPGMC won awards???? It also won condemnation and was investigated by the Fair Trading Bureau if I remember correctly.

Hell - Gary Glitter and Michael Jackson have both won awards...they still touches kids...should we ignore thattoo ?

There has been a Yahoo award. They have the awards on the website if you ahve been there in the last year, you may have seen them. Speak what you know and you dont look stupid. Shit happens - no reason to resort to name calling just because you sat in bad seats at the gig and I was 3 feet away from Prince on 4 different aftershows and concerts. I wont even comment on how stupid and un funny the Gary Glitter comments were.

rolleyes @ awards.. big deal?

I find it amazing that Prince don't put much into awards because it's against his religion but they are always bragging about awards at the npg site. Can somebody please say Hypocrite! lol

Ok so teh Gray Glitter comment wasnt funny but then it wasnt meant to be...I was just pointing out that saying NPGMC has won awards therefore how can dissatisfied members criticise it is a little weird.

I just find it a little creepy that people defend the club so much when there are some obviously very dissatisfied customers...but not just defend it - attack those who dare peak out against it.

Does that not feel a little uncomfortable to anybody else?

It just smacks of N.I.M.B.Y !!!

The NPG fan pimping and JW recruitment center MusicClub just SUCKS!

simple as that.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

I was in the NPGMC forums last night and Post after POst was constant slagging off of Prince - The NPGMC Site and Certain Members !!!

One comment was - "I (Not Me) Have been a member longer than you so I deserve better deals from this site than you !! and that Long time members should be seated closer to the front than newer members on the tours.....Perhaps we should don our white hoods too confused

Other members constantly whinge and moan about the lack of "Goodies" on the site .....

Yet these same members then go on to praise prince in another Post on that very site ?? eek

Once in a Magazine it was stated that Prince Fans where of the most Loyal followings to any known musician.....How times have changed??

I totally agree with what sonofblade says....Sadly from what I have seen, there is no pleasing the majority of members in the NPGMC (or more to the point - users of the forums - after all I doubt every member dares to go into the forum for fear of being insulted by some 14 year old who doesnt even know the track listing to Purple Rain)

All I can say is Stick with Prince.orgs forums and just pop into NPGMC for your Online shopping.....Much more enjoyable !!
