NPG Music Club Broke!

Well if you want to know why the downloads section has nothing and they are turning to CDs, is because the NPGMC is completely broke, and they can no loger afford the server space to have a large download section!

It's cheaper to send out 4 crappy CDs a year than rent a ton of server space with the bandwith needed so the site doen't crash...

Oh well, yet another half-baked failure from Prince...

Lord, the rumors people spread.
It's amazing how many people get off on bad news.
Sigh.

Actually it's because Prince felt like his website was completely inadequate as compared to the excellent work Mayte is doing at www.mayte.com ....lol wink

Actually caligvla is right. That is the exact reason they went to the CD's. This was discussed in detail in the NPGMC chat but only for a few hours then not another word was said. There were several Paisly Park people discussing it, I was there. Now that they are broke, I'm sure that is just rumor.

Believe what you will.
Peace 2 All !!

anyone who has run a website that gets a lot of traffic understands that bandwidth is costly. i would imagine downloading 12 editions of the club with high and low versions of each file (including hour long audio shows) got to be very expensive indeed. and besides, the npgmc is only as broke as prince is. and i'm sure he ain't broke.

I assume you must be joking, right? Mayte's sight is boring and quiet, not to mention it hasn't been updated since January.

I highly doubt NPGMC is broke, probably quite opposite...

Hmmm...

I think the downloads came to an end because it edition was later found on Audiogalaxy (for example). It's easier to monitor the music if you know who is recieving it. And, yes, it does cost an arm and a leg to maintain server and broadband space.

Ciao

I doubt NPG is broke because of the simple fact that they haven't refunded me for 2 tickets and got my membership fee altho Prince cancelled his show in my city.

But I know NPG ain't worth the fee.

Too bad you have to find that out AFTER you sign up.

The only thing this post proves is two things:

1. People will believe ANYTHING without ANY proof &

2. People LOVE to spred rumors I guess to make them feel powerful and make them THINK they know an inside story on their favorite Icon.

People Please think before you believe a post. Don't let this IDIOT make you look stupid

The REAL reason Prince stoped the downloads is because of the mass piracy of the MP3 format. It was just to easy for people to bootleg.
