Michael Bland Publishes Website

Michael Bland, former drummer of the NPG (89-96), has recently created a website where fans can keep up with his latest projects. The site, www.michaelbland.org, contains some of his favorite pictures, music, stories and technical information. Over the spring he toured with Paul Westerberg and most recently cut tracks with Mandy Moore for her new CD. "I'm on the paper chase, Nicole," he told me recently. "Just trying to pay the bills!" Well, I'm just glad to see he's still out there doing his thing.
In addition to working with Paul Westerberg and Mandy Moore over the summer, Michael has worked with Chaka Khan, Maxwell, Dionne Farris, Georg Benson and Howard Hewitt to name a few. He also informed me that both of his groups, Sons of Almighty (Progressive Gospel) and News From The Jungle (Jazz-Fusion), will be going into the studio soon to record new material. He has also added film scores to his list of projects, working on "Anchorman" and "Alot Like Love".
Check out the website when you get a chance...there are some really great antecdotes about his career and his days with Prince. You can also reach Michael online at michaelbland@michaelbland.org. He would love to hear from you all!!!

Hey MiscBaby, I think you accidentally inserted a comma at the end of the URL. The link doesn't work.

This one does:
www.michaelbland.com

I love Blackwell, but Michael is my fave drummer of all time (Prince and non- Prince drummers). I miss listening to his drumrolls.

I can see the caption now:

Mike B - "From the church band to hanging with T-girls. I wonder what Nietzsche would say about this..."

PurpleRein

on his website he says that Lee Jeff Johnson is the 'baddest guitarist". Perhaps he wrote that comment before playing with Prince

A few weeks ago I saw Michael Bland play with HarMar Superstar here in Minneapolis. I have seen him play with HarMar a few times now. Michael seems very happy and he's very fun to watch. He and HarMar were talking before the show and I asked HarMar to sign something for me. Next I asked Michael to sign it and he kind of chuckled at me and said,” You don't even know who I am". I assured him that I did know who he was as I recited the details of his career. He was surprised and signed. I'm not sure why he was so surprised. I assume it is because I am younger than the majority of his long time fans. It was a great show, I can now say that I have officially met Michael Bland!

- It´s true...but not because of it. Prince seems to be happier as a human being now...and I am glad for that. I think it has nothing to do with bands, but with his spiritual side...smile
