Sounds good! For $100 you get the basic NPGMC & for an additional $50 you can get them as downloadable.
Or when you get the $100 membership you pick which you want - the 4 cds or 4 downloadable cds.

He is probably trying to avoid the costs of high-load servers and bandwidth... thus CDs are cheaper and therefore he makes more money, which seems to be the idea.

CD's can get lost in the post too. So having the option to download the songs might satisfy some people !?

I asked them about this when they changed the concept of the club in february. I asked them why didn't give members a choice between cd's and downloads. It was too difficult and the club wants to do it this year only with cd's and maybe an occasional song to download.
It's also true that there are now many members who don't prefer to download anything, so they can't put an entire aftershow up for download and not on cd for the other members too.
Thus if they send out e.g. an aftershow on cd then they would have to send it to all members. I don't think they will change the concept, it's probably to late now for changes, maybe next year there will be a combination of the two forms.

i agree that i believe part of the reason there is no download thing this year is because of the bandwidth and server thing. it gets to be very expensive.

Man, if it was downloads u'd all complain about that too. Like we did last year. Read my earlier thread, this is the best way. Personally, I love recieving a new CD, the artwork, CD itself, u still can't beat that.

As much as I love the idea of the NPGMC, I really think the site needs to be completely updated. I think he should really concentrate on the business side of the NPGMC more. Get some good people working for you Prince. You deserve it!! I mean, Prince himself should concentrate on making really great music but he should also make sure someone at Paisley knows what they're doin.
Imagine an NPGMC where we could buy rehearsals, soundchecks, tours live on CD or Video? Prince, i think it's amazing what you are giving us all, and we don't want to seem ungrateful, but keep the NPGMC music and bonuses seperate from commercial release e.g Don't re-hash material from year 1...if something is given to your members, don't sell it commercially. We appreciate that we get new music FIRST, but we don't like recieving new music twice.


Update the site, make it really slick, with a downloads section that gets updated with one off downloads all the time as a suprise for members. The CD's are great I wouldn't change that. But I think they should be bonuses for NPGMC members. Prince should still release great albums through one off deals with distributors/labels (like TRC and RAVE) but take time to create those albums.But make them great albums that come out every couple of years. Use the NPGMC as a supplement to fulfill P's and the fams desire for more music.
Trust me, I think a combination of heavily promote Great albums every two years as well as rarities and bonuses from the NPGMC would only increase members. I know it's all coming together slowly, but i think this is the way everyone can be happy.

what does hiring good people have to do with Prince releasing concerts for sale?
