Yeah, call me a cheap bastard, but does anyone know how to get NPGMC files to play when you are not a member? Any advise will be much appreciated.

PS: If you can help me, it might be better if you would send me an orgnote, I think...

You don't have to be a member, non-members can buy the files too, they're just cheaper for members.

I'd like to buy these tracks, but out of selfprotection I don't own a creditcard. If these tracks would be released on a CD that you can buy in the shops I'd be the first to shell out the money, I have all his official releases. But for now I used a P2P program to get the files, unfortunately I don't get them to play. If anyone has some tips how to solve this I would be very pleased.

Sounds like you're downloading the windows media audio files, what you should look for are the mp3s, either from the original downloads (from the NPGMC Year One), or converted from those wma's.

The wma's have the licensing encoded in them, mp3s don't.

The Npgmc files have a license protection system on them to help stop people like you getting them without paying for them! You don't necessarily need a credit card, some debit cards work also. Other than that, the only way around it is to find a file that has been bought legitimately and burnt to cd and ripped back and put on a p2p. I guess it's pot luck.

Before I eventually broke down and got a credit card... I used to deposit like $35.00 into my girlfriends checking account. Then use her Check card to download tracks from the NPGMC. Obtaining NPGMC files illegally isn't even worth all the hassle: downloading->burning->redownloading->then trying to figure out which is the Mp3 copy vs. wma copy. On and on and on...

OK you guys have convinced me that it is too much hassle. I'm gonna see if I can use a friends' creditcard to download some of the NPGMC tracks. Thanks anyway!

Use your checking account card. As long as it has a Visa logo it works just the same online.
