omg duh
I sold my extra copy of ONA to Amoeba for some trivial amount. I have found my biggest fault in life.

I sold mine for $40 to an orger about a year ago.

It is slow, and, even worse, still not Safari-friendly.
And it's kinda chintzy to charge 77 cents for an excerpt, dontcha think?

LOL, 49.95 for a download! I found Crystal Balll (minus Kamasutra, which sucks anyway) at a Newbury Comics in Massachusetts for $7.95. Too much!

Newsflash why buy a live mp3 that is edited fromt he whole performance?
Because Prince is selling it?
Gotta do better than that.

People want the whole performance. Someday they will learn.
They probably taped it off a beta vcr prerecorded tape of 3 chains o Gold.

yeah they just have to make it harder for those trying to log in from work...they know how hard it is to sneak and pull the window up, now we have to wait for ever for it to load onto the page disbelief ...maybe this is a sign we shouldn't log-in from work maybe???? idea2

Yo. I want discs, not downloads. Doesn't anybody have ears anymore? Digital compression equals poop. Prince is putting his multi-million dollar recording facility to really good use with this type of end-product...

I wants discs, too. No time for downloading. No patience, either. It's time to just stop fretting over how much money he's going to pull in and just release the music to the stores, like Ani DiFranco does or any other TRUE independent artist does.

I'll never join the NPGMC.

A studio version may be better, and I was leaving open that possibility. And really...I posted because I rarely post here...and figured why not...maybe TollyC will reply. lol Later Tolly...hope U had a great day!

I like the new look of the site. It looks better than before
and I'm very happy with the new vids in the mediaroom.

Now, if only they could put up some more NEW music or other
old jams we'd never heard before.

They're really pulling out every darn thing they sold before
on that download store.

The 3 live tracks from '95 are Letitgo, Return of the Bumpsquad, and Vicki Waiting. These were previously released during the first year of the club. So the only new things for me are the Strange Relationship track and the Satisfaction clip.

The club is just such a great place to release live concert material, they should really do more of that, sort of thing a hard-core fan would buy but not casual fans.

At some point, they're gonna run out of previously released downloads and HAVE to put out some new unique stuff!

god, prince is damned if he does, damned if he don't. considering ONA costs a shitload on ebay i think it's great he's put that up for download.
the price of crystal ball surprises me but am i the only one who has noticed its got a barrel load of swearing in it? i mean, does anyone know if its unedited? cos if it ISN'T, then surely its proof that any remasters we get wouldn't be edited for swearing?

the EP sounds fucking ace, and i never knew it was previously released, no-one ever seems to have mentioned.

a random live clip - yeah i can see why people are bitching but they also know, really, that he isn't going to release a live show fully like that, or at least it would be fairly unprecedented, so just suck it up and accept that he's putting out random live tracks for you.

i too prefer discs, or at least lossless downloads, cos if i bought all these then they came out on cd i'd be cheesed off cos i know its better quality elsewhere. but at the same time, prince is far ahead of the game. so ani difranco puts discs in stores, forgive me if i'm wrong but does she release a disc at the rate of prince, which is one a year on average?

personally i think this is all great, it could do with more new music, but lets face it, "new" music is going to be a major thing, not randomly released to download on his store, so why people would really expect otherwise is beyond me. the only thing i'd change is make it lossless and provide artwork, cos people are more or less paying full retail price with some of this, when in reality they're getting less than you would at retail

still, its keeping it up from 2004 and notice glass cutter is the song played at the main page, which suggests its not a demo at all (like we believed that!) and perhaps will be a major song in one way or another.

Prince is too much of a control freak. If he didn't want that on his site it would already be down.

nah, i'm not saying prince wouldn't want it there. i just think sometimes that we underestimate the role of the site master and overestimate prince's role on that site, that's all.

I'm with you. In fact, other than The War (which I'm wondering if the NPGMC WMA file is gonna be any noticably better than the perfect-sounding mp3 I have), there's nothing for me to buy even if I wanted to. There's the snippet of the new track from the Image awards, but I have that audio AND video digitally recorded on my hard-drive and if I was so inclined I could easily rip just the audio and split it up into little bits - and one of those littly bitty bits would be the new material on NPGMC. Well, new if you don't consider the original broadcast to millions of viewers. smile

I DO think it's (finally) freaking time they let y'all get the ONA piano and the other stuff they put in there (minus kamacrappa, they should pay you to listen to that whole thing) - although I don't understand why they didn't add the files they just did way back say at the end of the summer, after the tour, when there was total silence except from his legal team. But hey, whatever.

the latest offerings from the club have just reminded me that i'm really fortunate and satisfied (no pun intended) with what i have, and that i'm not really clamoring for any gems from the past, but rather i'm happy with whatever new stuff should come down the pike, whenever that stuff should arrive. there's enough stuff from other artists coming out that i'm excited about, and new product from prince is just a piece in the pie as far as my music collection is concerned. i'm glad for other people that the ONA piano album is finally available, though. it'll be cool to check out the new wave of comments and reactions to it.

Thanks for the heads up about the overhaul Anxiety rose

I don't go around to the NPGMC much these days. (Any computer time I have I spend here at my .orghome), so with out the heads up I would have missed the info.

The overhaul looks nice. Honestly, it just nice to see some changes.

As for the new downloads, I see it as a great balanace of offering old and new material. Of course there is an abundance of older material and I think that's, in part, why it sometimes feels like they overkill in making so many older trax available.

Honestly, I don't know what to do with all of it, or if I want all of it, but that's my problem.

If I were to say I had one beef with the overhaul, it would be to say that calling the piano version of ONA a "new classic" is wrong. Disney does that alot with its movies. IMHO, one cannot deem something a classic when it is released or soon after. Classics become classics by standing the test of time. Otherwise labeling something a "classic" becomes just another marketing ploy designed to tell you what to think about it.

Okay, rant over.
I'm firmly planted in denial

I didn't see this mentioned yet, but if I missed it and am repeating something, my apologies. The Strange Relationship download sounds an aweful lot like the 3-21-87 performance, which has long been circulating (try 4 Those Of U On Valium). To be honest... I don't even notice much of a sound improvement, lol. Not that I would have any bootleg material in my collection of course. wink

This may be of interest to some. This is what I found that can not be legally purchased on shiny silver discs (which is how I like to get my music):

Singles: Controversy (Live), Bataclan Single, Magnificent, Silver Tongue, United States of Division, Strange Relationship (Live), The War

Albums: One Nite Alone (Piano), Xpectation, C-Note, Sloughterhouse, Chocolate Invasion, Much Music, Live from Paisly Park

Videos: Call My Name, Reflections, Live Tour Video

Total Cost Non-Member: $76.78
Total Cost Member: $60.01

Doesn't look like the $25 membership is worth it if you're just after the stuff officially released on the web only (at least, until a little more has been released)...
