As for Prince's band, John Blackwell IS still the drummer of the NPG. I can testify since John told me himself. Just wait til he gets back to town in March.

But I know about the drummer Cora mentioned in this report. She is a Los Angeles drummer who has recorded with Foley. We will play some of his collaborations with her on the Foley concert interview/concert on the MPLS Special this month.

MJ named his kids prince in memory of his grandfather, called prince (if you didnt guess). Prince didn't realise this and slagged of MJ in the song fascination on the truth. saying something like "so called king and child named so called prince". MJs camp were quite surprised as if was quite spiteful and the lyric jokes between prince and MJ were usually tongue in cheek. but then they later found out prince didn't realise about Mjs grandfather, but did find out later on. i don't know what prince did about it once he realised though.

just cos prince was meant to be the opposite gang leader don't mean shit. wasn't that whole thing that quincy jones wanted to create a rivalry between prince and MJ, hype the media up, then hit them with beat it with prince and MJ in it and obviously score massive hits for both of them. supposedly they all met up but when prince heard the song he said this is a hit without me and wouldn't do it. obviously prince now tells it like "well the first lyric is "and your butt is mine" and i ain't singing that and he sure as hell isnt!"

yeah the james brown clip is funny as it is MJ badgering JB, supposedly prince just asked for a shoutout and wasn't prepared to go on stage, probably why he fucks it up so bad (as well as cos he was so fucked up!). no idea if it was MJ trying to catch P unawares of he wanted to see what he could do or what


plus there is that story of prince being at the jacksons house, flirting with latoya, and when he thought noone was looking licked her ear, and looked round to see MJ looking at him horrified! then later on he started trying to get with janet, but she wouldn't go out with him because of the trick he played on MJ where he gave him a box that contained dirt, a feather etc etc some weird voodoo stuff, and made MJ think it was a curse or something. and prince was like 'oh its just a joke' to janet but she wasn't having none of it! there is a different version where prince gave him the box and stuff and it meant strength and vitality but MJ thought it was a curse. i'm more inclined to believe the former as it fits in with princes "cruel" practical joker thing he seemed to do at the time.

Remember the The Work pt.1 single that was available on Napster. This featured a slightly different solo than the album version. You can hear Prince play the same line on guitar and keyboard. It was posted by the club that he did this without overdubs.
