3121 refers to the british mobile phone company one2one. It has been taken over by T mobile, but whenever Prince came to the UK, one2one was his prefered network. Now it has been taken over by t mobile, one2one is still tied up with its contractual obligations. This naturally makes Prince very irate, frustrated and meloncholly.
3121 simply means free one2one.

Thank you.

I recently signed for TMobile on a 12month contract and they seem very good. The lady in the shop was very helpful. I cant believe they are quietly enslaving smaller less powerful acts. I got line rental at half price for the first 6 months for God sake. Having read your words i will consider taking my new phone and miscellaneous accessories back to the shop.

As for Prince's band, John Blackwell IS still the drummer of the NPG. I can testify since John told me himself. Just wait til he gets back to town in March.

But I know about the drummer Cora mentioned in this report. She is a Los Angeles drummer who has recorded with Foley. We will play some of his collaborations with her on the Foley concert interview/concert on the MPLS Special this month.

I was feelin' that too. I think, honestly, his heart goes out to MJ. This goes beyond real/perceived rivalries.

Plus, "DSTYGE" is a hot durn groove.

It's not, but close. Then again, NPGMC "reports" and "news releases" are always pretty fluffy. It's the norm, but this report certainly went the extra yard.

JONI MITCHELL

omfg drool omfg

So incredibly cool that she'd attend one of Prince's parties.
It would give one hope for a colaboration. Well, I can dream.

Than again, she was also at the first listening session for
the "Around the world in a Day" album at warner bros back in
1985, so I guess her showing up doesn't mean anything more
than....her showing up.

Although I am a bit surprised that she dared to show up at a
public event, given that she slags off every household name
in music whenever she gets the chance

i'm surprised, considering how hardcore fans are on this board, how many people think prince hates MJ or something. sure, the media made their rivalry more acute, they've put digs in their songs over the years many times "you've got to be a prince before you're king anyway" "he can give you diamonds and pearls, but i can do it better" (or whatever). but whenever prince has been asked directly about MJ he's supported him, either at the namechange press conference in 2000, or on the radio when he called him a genius etc etc. he's always stated billie jean as one of the best songs around and is a huge jackson 5 fan. so i'd be surprised if he didn't know how to play most of the MJ catalogue, he was just jamming

it seems that the new album, however, will be 3121 or have that song, i mean, this is the second or third time its popped up lately. unless prince is just screwing around with us.

interesting the black eyed peas jammed with him too.

doubt he's got a whole new band, though its possible

You can see it here:
http://www.housequake.com...adid=38527

It's at around 8.30 in to the video.
It's possible because you can play the guitar only with your left, especially if you have alot of overdrive/distortion. Still, I think it's amazing that he plays the same run on a keyboard and a guitar at the same time.
Remember the The Work pt.1 single that was available on Napster. This featured a slightly different solo than the album version. You can hear Prince play the same line on guitar and keyboard. It was posted by the club that he did this without overdubs.

I know virtually everyone is asking the same question but I wonder why, all of a sudden, he's doing this?? I bet he's got something juicy up his sleeve.

What surprises me is that he's allowing personal reports like this to filter through... For someone who guards his privacy so zealously, P seems to be a lot more relaxed these days.

ok...my thoughts on all this.

This band was not Maceo's band and NOT Prince's new band but a new band Prince has put together..I mean it says the lead vocalist Ashley..right? so...I'm thinking it ain't "Prince's" band so to speak..and it seems this band is doing mostly if not all covers...so the MJ song isn't really that big of a surprise to me.
oh yeah..Joni Mitchel was at one of his Grammy parties too...the 3121 report for that party says she stayed till the morning!
as for this reporter....hmmm, I think she's an entertainment writer for something (be it a crappy one)...but in an earlier report it mentioned how she'd never have believed her friend who had an inside Prince connection would have landed her there...and the PP's at the club state that these reports are being sent to them...we gotta figure her out...who was the chick who used to do the Paisley party reports...??? she was supposed to be all mysterious too right?
hmm...

The reason I said it was probably Maceo's band is because at the Grammy party it appeared to be. They were doing a lot of his songs and then they started doing covers. At one point (at the Grammy party) Prince brought a female up to the mic to do a cover of Aretha's "Rock Steady" it could've been the same girl. I'm not sure because I wasn't there, but I'm thinking it might've been the same girl.

oh yes...I knew where you were coming from. smile yes, at the Grammy party it was Maceo's band and your right..they did call up this very same girl to sing (Ashely) seems this time Prince must have invited her whole band...and this Frank dude...I seem to remember him being brought up but..I don't know if he's actually part of either band.
anyway..thanx for the clarification...
