Is the time Constraint going 2 make the new albums rushed?

Many have wondered where their cd's are and have demanded it. It HAS been 4 months.....but I wonder maybe, especially with the tour, if Prince is in a time crunch. I certainly dont want him pumping out inferior work if I know that if he had more time and didnt feel pressured he would make it better.

I think that the sheer enjoyment of music, of going 2 the store and just buying it, is gone. Im sorry, but the club needs 2 go. If u look at the big picture, it has caused so many arguments, so many unhappy customers, and so much division among fans that I dont think the exclusivity is worth it. He can still crank out the 4 or 5 albums a year, but just send it 2 the stores, dammit. Ill still buy it.

I know that NPGMC is really a big masterminded plan to overthrow the middlemen and the music business, but the cd's still cost the same. Has anything been accomplished in that respect?

If this membership is going 2 make Prince less of an artist, and more of a businessman trying 2 make a deadline, then I dont think its good 4 anyone. In a way, I think its 2 late.

Just my opinion.....I tried not 2 b dramatic, but still be honest.Flame if u want.

I think it's very likely that Prince has already been planning these albumz for a long time. I don't think that they'll sound rushed or abrupt. Even with Prince's mediocre business sense, I don't think he would give us a boatload of crap. That would pretty much ensure that nobody would sign up for the NPGMC again.

As far as the cost of the CD's, i don't think the point was for us 2 pay less, it wuz for the artist to make more. I don't mind paying the regular store amount for exclusive music.

I'm not expecting much, so I won't be disappointed, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't expect anything until the tour ends in the US.

Does it say anywhere straight out that members would receive the 4 new CD's within the year 2 membership? From what I understand it just says that if you join you receive 4 new CD's...could mean that you would receive them over the next four years....who knows!?!?

well...here's what's written when you go to sign up for membership...

"Each 2002 member will receive at least 4 brand new Prince CDs in the mail from Paisley Park thruout the year".

We still have til Feb.15th...if we havent received anything by, say July, then Id get worried.

The music club made no promises that the first album would arrive by a set date. The membership provides for 4 cds during the year. In reality, these cds could be distributed to arrive during the last quarter. This is a possibility that should be considered before signing up to the club.

Peace

Why is going to the store & buying a cd an enjoyable experience but having the cd delivered to your door is not enjoyable??
Control.
You decide when you go to the store & buy the cd.
Waiting for it to arrive in the mail takes away that control & leaves you at the mercy of strangers.
Lack of control. Feelings of insecurity.
The NPGMC makes this situation worse by not telling you when the cd will be shipped.
Lack of control snowballing out of control. Danger Danger

I don't think he's going to be rushed to meet a deadline because I think at least one of the club CDs is already done. The other one is "being sequenced" according to an email from NPGMC.

It's funny, when the new club opened in Feb, many people said "well how can they expect us to join when we don't know what the CDs are, when they will arrive, or ANYTHING!!??" And that is true. But guess what happened? A bunch of folks joined/renewed anyway. And nothing has changed, they voluntarily joined the club with the EXACT same promises made in February that they make today. As MorehouseMan said, you knew the deal from day ONE.

Man, just see it like this. All the new music since the NPGMC started has been cool. Supercute and all the high tracks were cool, The Rainbow Kids is a classic...One Nite alone is great.

What are u worried about? The Cd's will be here.

I don't think the music will sound rushed cause Prince wouldn't let that happen cause he is such a perfectionist. But if NPGMC have to rush the cds out, maybe the artwork will suffer. TRC was the first prince album in a long while where I was impressed with the artwork.

Berry

What if all 4 cd's come out in December? He has filled his obligation.

Art can't be rushed. And if he does rush it, it is only because of the pressures fans r putting on him.

I think he always comes through in the end...

Prince, take all the time u need, it's been a trying year 4 u, so just do what u can.

No it hasn't.

Xenophobia is done. The piano thing is probably done too. The other two cd's could very well be the live cd's that he mentioned in that soundcheck people wre talking about. Or, that Very Best of o+> cd.

I think that the sheer enjoyment of music, of going 2 the store and just buying it, is gone. Im sorry, but the club needs 2 go. If u look at the big picture, it has caused so many arguments, so many unhappy customers, and so much division among fans that I dont think the exclusivity is worth it.

Oh bs. The majority of the people that have seen the concert have enjoyed it. Hell, even people who haven't seen it have been falling over themselves to get copies of the circulating bootlegged Chicago Shows. The soudchecks have been held at nearly every stop on the tour. And most importantly, for the most part, people who were club members got first shot at the best seats.

I know that NPGMC is really a big masterminded plan to overthrow the middlemen and the music business, but the cd's still cost the same. Has anything been accomplished in that respect?

Calhoun had it right. Sounds like you got a show in your town and now you don't want wait for the cd's. So now you complain the club is not working.

Yeah, I wish more people had held off on it, rather than joining out of blind faith. Not necessarily because I think they were foolish, but because the NPGMC seem to use this blind faith as an excuse to get around the fact that consumers have rights.

And don't forget "Silicon". Who knows what else he's got ready for us. Prince does shit in his own time. Not when we expect him to. Give the man a chance to do his thing his way!

Whoa whoa WHOA!!! Hold it right there. no no no!

Im not impatient 2 get the cd's...I said that most people have been wondering where they r. There have been threads made about it etc, etc. I have never once done anything like that.

I was simply considering the possibility that maybe he will feel pressured by the deadline. Hes very prolific as it is u know.

I could have been answered with a simple "He already had this recorded". That would have been sufficient.

But calhounsq takes every chance she gets 2 be a Prince-know-it-all.

P.S. My reasons 4 joining r none of ur business. Its sad that true Prince fans have 2 join club at all just 2 get decent seats. Isnt being a fan enough?.....guess not.

I've been wanting 2 join since it started, but first of all I had no card, and when the club started I was much 2 young 2 have the money or understanding of how it worked (not 2 mention I had no computer)

Assumptions assumptions!
