Well,

I did send NPGMC an e-mail regarding another matter (UK customs charges) but I also asked if Prince had decided anything about the CDs, would they be sent out separately and would they consider stating a nominal value for UK customs to avoid us Brits getting charged more on delivery. Here is their response:

We do not have specific info on the CDs yet but we do xpect 2 send them
separately and we will try and remember the 10 USD value.

Brief, but to the point!

Even if we don't have the CDs yet, how about some word on them from the club? A teaser? A tracklist? Something to get us excited (or at least darn upset about where our money went!).

This "Do The Math" thing has to stop. Sheep.

What about those people who joined late on in year 1? What was the solution offered by NPGMC? Do they get the concert perks and whatever CDs are released to the club, up until 1 year after they originally joined? Or were they refunded..?

There's no mathematics involved. If you joined, you should know the terms you signed up to. Namely, you pay $100, and, by the end of the year, you receive 4 CDs. Of course, if you didn't want the anxiety and anticipation after paying your money, you could wait, but that threatens your being able to take advantage of other membership features such as concert advice, and soundcheck and after party entry. If you've paid your money already, go re-read the terms and conditions.

I would just like a bit of clairity from NPGMC, they are sooooo vague about everything, I find it really frustrating.
I'm not impatient, I would just like to know WHEN we can expect them.

When I first heard "at least" 4 cds, I thought that there would definetly be more than 4 cds. The longer we wait for the first cd the less likely there will be more than 4. Like I said before, Prince and the NPGMC should have had something ready at the beginning of year 2. Send the first cd immediately and wait for the rest. This first cd could have been a promotional item only avaiable in February. If you didn't sign up in the first month, you would not have received this cd. As it is now, many are growing impatient.

my guess is that sometime between the end of the US tour
and the beginning of the Celebration we will have our first cd.
Probably before the postal rate increase in June!!!

Just my guess. I could be wrong.

It's been 2 1/2 months...sheeesh...lol...My guess is that the first CD will arrive after the tour ends...that way, they stretch the "priviledges" of membership over the year...1st you get great seats, advanced ticket sales, sound checks and after shows...next you get a new CD...after that you get the Celebration(which I still think shouldn't be "members only", but that's another story)...then you get more touring, plus another CD....etc, etc...

If 6 months go by, and no CD or any word about them, THEN I'll jump on this "Where are the CDs" kick...until then, I'm not about to think that 2 months without a CD in the mail yet qualifies for my "Things To Worry And Bitch About" list.

Wait until AFTER the tour ends and then complain. Prince controls the system; nothing is coming out until he okays the final product. And that won't be until he gets back!

... I live in Europe...no tours, soundchecks, aftershows or celebrations, no downloads... no cd's.....

People reported that he said the fist CD is ready to go out in a few days. I guess Wellbeyond is right about the CD(s) being shipped between the tour and the celebration.

Are you sure you're not getting that from the fake concert report that someone posted? They claimed Prince had said that, but it was all a load of bollocks.

Hey, I'm still waiting for that 7CD sampler set. Remember that one that was advertised last year?

Also, I'm still looking for all those "re-recorded" albums Prince was working on to replace the Warner Bros masters.

Oh yeah, while he's at it, how about the Crystal Ball 2 CD? You know, the one he went so far as to solicit fans' favorite songs at the first Celebration, posted the top requested songs, and said, "coming soon"?

About the same time as he said he wanted to release the Celebration concert as a live album...

Feh.

I think he'll come through with four albums of stuff this year. I'm REALLY concerned about getting repeat trax (ONA stuff) and a dreaded remix CD (Last December) replete with Kirky J drum mixes. Aaaagh.

The January mp3s were all tracks that were supposed to be coming for the next year, from two named albums - 'One Nite Alone' and 'Madrid 2 Chicago'.

Although the ONA tracks were described as demos in the e-mail, and M2C is looking unlikely at the moment.

So did they sound like demos? I suppose Prince and a piano would sound the same whether it was a demo or a full studio version anyway. Having said that he does like to embellish the sound of his tracks with sound effects and other things (like on The Truth).

Ummm... they are a little bit rough around the edges compared to other recent recordings, but this is not a bad thing. They do have several whooshy sound effects and one of them has been made to sound like a vinyl record, so he must have spent a little bit of extra time on them.

It's not totally just Prince on the piano either - A case of U is pretty much full instrumentation (although the piano leads).
