Questions about NPG Music Club

O-kay! Let me get this str8.

For a one time fee of just $25, I can get access to free music and a a bunch of other stuff like tickets.

But my question is, is the free music up for only a limited time?

Like if I become a member today, do I still get to download all of the songs that they've put in the past or have they since taken those songs down?

And I got my VISA card right here. If I pay this one-time payment of only $25 for infinite access to NPGMC, they ain't gonna keep charging shit to my card, are they?

Like everytime I get my bill in mail, I won't opened it up and see that NPGMC has charged me for something, will I?

How many people here are acutally members of NPGMC? How many people are not and why?

And is it really worth it ? I kinda wanna do it, but should I really go for it?

Holla back...

Ya pay your $25.00 membership on your VISA.

You get access to chat room, and other delights. You get access to the NPG store and "buy" all kinds of stuff (not free).

You can download albums or music for a fee of course. Non-members is a higher fee. Songs, music, whatever is available.

You can to into the Glam Slam Room on weekends and listen.

Anxiety

lemme put it this way - when prince is promoting a new project, it's worth your while to be a member because there will be perks. but if you joined right now and expected to be lavished with goodies, you'll be pretty disappointed. HOWEVER, i think now's a good time to join, cuz you'll have a leg up when something new drops and they're doing presales and screenings and special streaming audio stuff or whatever. i'm not a big fan of the forums/chat over there, but some people swear by it over there...and occasionally you get a morsel of info or two about what's in the pipeline. nod

The membership fee will be worth it the next time Prince tours. Pre-sales for shows are through NPGMC only. I was able to get front row seats that would have been near impossible if I hadn't joined.

Okay, so I do just pay $25 ONE TIME, right? And everything after that is FREE, right?

And I do get to download some of the songs they were previously put up starting back from 2001, right?

I joined about a year ago and so far, I've only been charged the membership fee once. The only other charges I've received are for things I've bought on the site (like concert tickets and CDs).

Aight, $25 give you access, but do you have to pay anything for the songs you download? I read off of another site just a minute ago about it costing like $.65 per song for members and $.99 for non-members.

No. the $25 one time fee gives you access to the site. There are no 'free'
downloads (there never have been). If you're looking for stuff to download,
that's gonna cost you. You can go and view what's available to download yourself
in the 'Musicology' section (you don't need to be a member). Some downloads
are just one track at 99c (77c if you're a member) and some are whole albums
at $9.99 ($7.77 if you're a member).

The only free tracks you can download are those in the Reflection room. These are usually 2 tracks at a time from Prince's back catalogue - nothing rare. You can't actually download them, but you can usually find them in your temp internet files folder - but they are a low quality anyway. They are changed every so often, you cannot access previous tracks once they are gone.

Most weekends there is an additional track in the 'glam slam' room - usually a mix or extended version, but sometimes again just an album track. It's rare that there is anything rare! Though the new tracks 'san jose jam' and 'glass cutter' where available for a weekend a while back. Nice little surprises come along every once in a while.

Also there are some promo videos to various songs in the cyberclips room - again, you can't actually download them as such. So you need a good internet connection to view them properly.

All the $25 guarantees you is access to the club for life, a slight reduction in price when buying tracks from the Musicology store section, and first dibs on up-front concert tickets. It's probably worth it for the tickets - if Prince ever does a concert near you, that is.

No. The membership fee is a one-time fee.

Can anyone explain the difference between this club and a club that was charging $100 for membership. Does anyone remember this?
