Choclate Invasion & Slaughter House

I just downloaded the Xpectation album, and I was wondering for those how have them, what do you think about choclate invasion & slaughter house albums?

How would you descibe them & which do you prefer?

Thanks!

Chocolate Invasion should have been released, its that good!!!! Slaughterhouse is very listenable, and I think personally that they are both better than Xpectation. CI, IMO, is the best collection of songs that he put together on any project since TGE. Just my opinion.....

The Chocolate Invasion is fantastic. I'd go so far as to say it kicks my butt. I already had all the tracks but one ('The Dance') when it was re-released by NPGMC this year, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that most all the songs on TCI were different running lengths and had been reworked, albeit ever-so-subtle.

Slaughterhouse is okay. It's kinda the B- to Chocolate Invasion's A+. If you're a fan who gets a kick out of everything he does, you'll enjoy it. It doesn't suck. It's just not quite as great at TCI. Definitely get that one. nod

They're both cool. Musically, they're are a bridge between the plastic-funk production era (NPS & Rave) and the old-school funk/soul/jazz sound that he's into now (The Rainbow Children & Musicology). Both have very heavy lyrics, often complaining about the state of the music industry etc.

It would be cool if he put out a third one that included other tracks from 2001 such as Jukebox With A Heartbeat, My Medallion, High, Madrid 2 Chicago etc.

I just downloaded choclate invasion, which I favoured anyway, there are some good tracks, some not so good.

I always listen to an album in full twice before I pass judgement.

Kepp you all posted!

Thanks guys.. I must admit I'm so uninformed on Prince's recent output other than TRC, NEWS, and Musicology.

You? I kind of fell off the bandwagon for a minute and I'm trying to catch up. I've been a fan since his second album then I fell off around the Rave album. I bought all of his releases but none of his downloads and stuff like that. Now I'm obsessed again. I need a 12 step program. "I don't need to have everything, I don't need to have everything"

Hey, guys! I absolutely love TCI. Can you tell me what the story is about it?

One of the frustrating things about the npgmc is that things are not dated and no liner notes/credits. As a result, I don't know when this was released. Given the lyrics, I'm thinking this it's before the JW period. He's talking about "leave underwear at home" and "underneath the cream" (Good god!)

I think he could have slapped Musicology and Marrying Kind in the TCI playlist and released that instead of Musicology. That's how good I think it is. Very funky.

Please educate me. cool
Come here, babe.. yeah...
