It was time 4 me 2 go when....

Someone started a message board about starting a NPG bible study and I knew that it was time to log out. It was just getting too religious for me and I believe that religion has it's time and place. Definitely not at some fan (or supporter) based website. I'd much rather talk about the music. I just had to vent for a minute. Glad to be back at the org though.

I hear ya. Still and all, I'd imagine if you visited an authorized Madonna web site, you'd find a lot of people talking enthusiastically about Kaballah. shrug

The idea for the bible study has been posted before, sometime last year. I personally see nothing wrong with it. Prince has joined a faith that urges folks to share the good news. If people don't want to participate then that's cool but Prince has been sharing his feelings with his fans for the longest.

Exactly. If you don't want to participate in a bible study thread or chat room, "just walk on by", ignore it and move on. There are plenty of other threads there that have nothing to do with religion.

i've only encountered a small but vocal handful of people who are particularly vocal about doing some kind of bible study at the club. honestly, i've interacted with more JWs here at the org. but heck, i'm considering attending universalist unitarian services soon myself, so maybe that makes me a pod person too. shrug

not at all. of the so-called 'organized religions' the unitarian universalist church actually tries really hard to NOT be one. unitarians actually make a point of studying and embracing different religions in turn. a lot of times speakers are invited who speak on different faiths. i think you'll love the universalist church, because it's basic doctrine is to require members to have an open mind to the idea that there may be more than one approach to 'god', and that 'god' takes many forms like buddha, allah, etc.

i really think you'll like it. hope so!

hey, the meetings are not forced so what does it really matter? i've gone to real (not cyber) jw meetings in the past so its not a big deal. i think its a little strange that a music site has people pushing for a bible study...quite honestly it makes me wonder if it is truly in their heart or if they just want to impress prince or have a hopeful thought that he'll actually show up and chat.

in the end, i opt out while others opt in. as long as it doesn't bleed over into the other forums, who cares?

i respect your sentiments... and their's. i guess it's a matter of taste...

but all that aside, remember, for your own sake, that there is a distinct line between religion and faith. don't let religion get in the way of your own faith... the way politicians do....

I hear what you all are saying and I respect everyone's opinions and it is good to have a decent discussion. Please note that I am not knocking bible studies at all, its just that if I need insight on the bible, I'd rather not get it over the internet. That is my opinion, I really don't visit the NPGMC website for anything other than to view the message boards. My husband is the actual member and he downloads music and purchases things, so we do get the other benefits of the club. For more diverse conversations however- the org is where I go.

The thing is I think a lot of people do this bible study thing as a way of somehow trying to impress Prince lol I think its ludicris myself, it defeats the whole idea of spirituality, if you are really into being one with God you would do it at an appropriate website, not a fan site for a rockstar lol lol lol lol lol

However I usually get most impressed by these so called holy rollers when you go into the chatroom during bible study and question something from the bible and they tell you to "go fuck yourself" that pretty much confirms my above statement lol lol lol lol

So now I go in there just to irritate them and talk about Satanic shit lol lol lol lol

If they really knew what was most important I doubt anyone would have any beef with them, but the vibe they call "the Truth" is sad, sad, sad.

I agree with you totally. Just last night my boyfriend was trying to take God out of his asshole, and I was all "Now Jared, you just shove God right back on up yer azz now, and don't make Daddy whup ya," and then we all knew what was important ---- ass. smile
