Prince reschedules Chicago-area shows

June 29, 2004 10:35 AM - Prince--who should be in the midst of a multi-night, Chicago-area run--has postponed those shows due to a death in a band-member's family.

The first of the five originally scheduled shows at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, took place as planned on June 25; the subsequent shows originally set for June 26, 28, 29 and 30 have been rescheduled to Aug. 3, July 22, 23 and 24, respectively. Details are shown below.
Tickets for the originally scheduled shows will be honored on the respective make-up dates. Ticket-holders not able to attend on the new dates can obtain a refund at the point of purchase, according to organizers.

Prince and his New Power Generation band postponed the concerts due to a death in drummer John Blackwell's family, according to Prince's New Power Generation Music Club.

The tour is on a planned hiatus until July 12, when Prince kicks off a three-night stand at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is supporting his April release, "Musicology," which has spent much of its time in the Top 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

Does anyone know if Prince will still perform Friday 7/2/04 @ the Essence Festival in NO? All of the articles I've found still show him on the schedule.

As stated in the above article..."The tour is on a planned hiatus until July 12, when Prince kicks off a three-night stand at New York City's Madison Square Garden."
