Damn, can anybody tell me if that is happening at all the shows or just certain ones?? I know that NPGMC is no longer emailing the password out to members because of this problem, but that is what they should have been doing all along to prevent this unfortunate incident from occuring! The reason why I ask is because a friend and I have seats for the Cleveland concert, fifth row from the stage. I'm now wondering if those are the actual seats that we are going to wind up with. It really angers me that these scalpers are grabbing the best seats and selling them to other people, people who are probably not even NPGMC members!!!!! If anyone can give me an answer, I would certainly appreciate it, since I am going to the Cleveland concert on March 10th, and that is only a few days away. I am really excited about these close seats, and now I'm wondering if I've got the seats that I paid for. Great concert review, dendmmr! I'll see you at the Cleveland show! Peace! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

AMAZING!!!!! He is absolutely, amazing! Only a little purple genius could throw a party like that! I can't wait for the Celebration at Paisley Park! The sound check, was UNBELIEVABLE! The concert was FABULOUS! The after party ROCKED! uuhh, I could just eat him up!

That soundcheck was a dream come true for us die-hards,huh? I always make a point of telling people what a great sense of humor Prince has--so many ignorant folks just think he's 'out there' and can't converse on a 'normal' level. Other cool sound check moments: when we first got in (I was 2nd row) we could hear his voice giving his crew directions, but he wasn't on stage. A girl behind me stood up, she couldn't take it anymore, and said "Prince, get DOWN here"! And he goes, "I AM down here. You don't know where I am, do you?" He was sitting towards the back of the House! Also, right before that when he was listening to Rhonda, he said "Sharp suit you got on there, Rhonda". Then he starts his teasing thing with Rico, remember he goes "I remember you, you crashed the Celebration. You've got a cool name too, right, what's your name?" So he gets down to the stage--he's sooooo little--and I think an assistant tied a knit do-rag thing on his head for him and he was looking through some (I think) music while Rico was doing a stand up comedy routine on stage. Rico cracked me up big-time when he was talking about how good the microphone was--he said, "This isn't like the ones we used at the house parties I used to go to. They better have some chips up in here!"
I don't think he was "tentative" with us at all. At first, yeah, while Rico was up there, I think he was kinda distracted with getting everything sounding good and didn't interact. But then he just sparkled. I can't describe the effect the sound of his voice has on me--it's so familiar (duh, obviously) and calm, soothing. Did anyone else also notice how polite he was to his band? You know, saying "please" and "thank you" when they made the instrument adjustments? He also focused alot on the little girl up front who I think was with her dad and who'd made a NPG thing that flashed/was in color, I think. He told her he was going to steal it from her, and she started to hand it up to him, but he of course was like, "no, no". Did you notice that she and her dad were backstage dancing during the show, along with the lady he pulled up from the audience who told him (in response to whether she was a leader or a follower) that she "liked to follow Jesus". He's funny, he's amazing, he's ethereal.....he's so DAMN FUNKY! The only thing I missed about this show was that he didn't DANCE the way he does on his other tours. I always loved watching him shake that fine booty of his and make eyes at the ladies;)

Hey, about the soundcheck access... Is it strictly for NPGMC members only (i.e., by myself), or can my non-member guest get access with me? I assume she can, but I hate to get her all psyched up for it if they won't let her in.
Thanks, Kyle | |

If I may be allowed to sneak in this late, but heart-felt review,.....thank you....thank you very much...seriously, though, If I had to chose one word to describe the show, I would descibe it as absolutely mesmerizing! (OK, I know that's two, and the spelling is probably off) At any rate, As an aspiring artist myself, I was simply in awe by the whole experience! For starters, Prince oozes on-stage authority like no one ever oozed it B4! From the time he hits the stage until the show is over, you are in the hands of a highly experienced, and very well qualified pilot. The only catch is...the journey is his, and the destination is multiple oriented. For those who show up with the intention on being driven to "Erotic City," or to bath (for the umteenth time) in a "Purple Rain" shower....U better bring your own squirt gun. However, for the tru fams who come just for the ride and who are trully "down-4-whatever..."It's gonna be a beutiful nite." It's all still there baby! The spontaneous moves, the blazing guitar solos, 12:00-st8-up funk grooves (can you say "ham hocks in yo corn flakes?") and most significantly of all, the sheer brilliance of the showmanship! Pardon my language, but I am truly convinced that this motherfucker is from a different planet! Who else can you possibly think of that brings every musical flavor imagineable the the table? Jazz, funk, blues, rock, pop, classical, easy listening, hard listening, sweet sweet soul, hip hop, let me stop right here cuz I'd hate to give it all away! All I got left to say is this, If I can be that pretty, energetic, and hip at 43....bring the shit on!!!

Thanks so much for the review. I can hardly wait for him to come to DC or NY. I am so excited, my kids think I'm crazy. Every nite when i get home, I'm telling them about the reviews. I know they'll be happy when he comes to town so they don't have to listen to me anymore. And I sincerly hope they fix the seating arrangements. I can remember when Kravitz fans were saying that they got select seating for all of his concerts through membership and I wished Price had this as well. No that he does, I hope that the seats are there for US. THe ones who have been there throught it all and more. I CAN'T WAIT. Keep the reviews coming this is really making my day. **************************************************

Prince put on a SHOW! It was awesome !!! Prince cracked jokes all night! It was fun watching him interacting with the crowd as the music flowed. Xenophobia sounds Jazzy, Funky, Fusion-like. It's worth the price just to see him play this !!! Well, maybe if the tickets were $75

Yeah, and when Adonis was doing all of his Prince moves onstage, it cracked me up. Reminded me of the PrinceFest in Toledo only he was wearing more clothes. Prince said something to the effect of:"You sure dance funky, but you have to drop those suits from 1984". Anyone remember the exact quote ??? Another hilarious moment during the show !!!

Rico, that was so awesome. There's another post on this thread where someone remembers more comments from you and Prince. The girl on stage was funny. Prince calls her up to dance and she was constantly shuffling towards him. He kept moving, even going around the keyboards. She kept coming after him until she finally got it. We all said since she was shaking those hips, she seemed to had a vagina magnet and Prince was the refrigerator. LOL !!! So what kinda jacket are you doing for him ???

Don't worry, you will be in the 5th row. If you have seats already, they won't change. It was just the way Ticketmaster sold tickets for Detroit and Chicago. Best available was not best available. But listen to this....I called Ticket.com last night and scored 8th row center for the Cleveland show. They had just been released. So go figure !!! If you are at the show, I'm in row H seat 311 center. Stop by and say hello !!! Dennis, with the long hair !!!

What a fantastic show !!! I just bought an 8th row ticket to the Cleveland show !!! i just wanted to jump on the band wagon and say its a pleasure to be in the midst of such great Prince fans. this is my first time writing but i've been reading awhile.i had the extreme thrill of being at both chicago shows...4th row center in the pit, after spending an absolute fortune on these tickets i'm poor but hungry for more. i missed the sound check in chicago, now i'm desperate to have that experience. i'm going to drive 4 hours to see if i can get into the soundcheck but i still haven't hooked up with any tickets. does anyone have any leads for me? or do you have to have a ticket for the show to be let into the soundcheck?

Hey !!! I wrote the following yesterday at 5:30 pm or so: I just called Ticket.com and inquired about the Cleveland show. At 4:30 pm they had one 35th row seat left for the whole theater. At 5;15 pm, they had 4 8th row center seats just released. I snagged a single seat and will be heading out to the show with my Cleveland posse !!! If anyone in that area is reading this in the next few minutes, and is thinking about going try this: 1-800-766-6048. Ask for tickets to the 3-10 show for Prince. They still had the other three seats available at 5:15 pm. They will hold the tickets at the will call window. If you get lucky, let me know !!! Good Luck !!! Then I just saw someone scored one of the tickets right by me this morning. So try and see what happens !!! Good Luck !!
