Yes,
It has been postponed.
There are conflicting reports as to why. One report says strained vocal cords, the other says he got sick on stage and had to be taken to the hospital (maybe during soundcheck). Who knows which is true.

They just said on V-103 radio station that he is ill and the concert is postponed until August 2nd. Whatever the case, I hope he is better soon. Cause I went last night and it was off the hook! I had the best seats I have ever had (front row) at ANY concert thanks to the FAM-CLUB!

Man, sorry guys...

I was sitting out tonight's show anyway, but I'm sorry that some of you are being forced to join me! Last night was incredible and Prince sounded like he was in excellent voice, so the strain thing would have to be sudden. Who knows.

I'm just glad that y'all get a reschedule date...I had Fleetwood Mac tickets for a Chicago show two weeks ago and they cancelled due to an illness and did not reschedule...just issued refunds.

Hang in there. And for those of you attending other nights in addition to tonight...just think! What a treat it will be to get ANOTHER fix in early August!

Final update on my part. Channel 7 news in Chicago just reported that Prince has a sore throat tonight and that the concert is rescheduled for August 3rd, not the 2nd as the radio reported. Anyway, the rest of the concerts in Chicago are supposed to go on as scheduled!

Channel 5 also reported the date as August 3rd, then panned over to the marquis showing the new date.

I have NO problem with Prince canceling if he was sick, or hurt.. or what ever..... BUT~~~~~
He SHOULD NOT of waited until 7:30 to decide to cancel the show.
It was a Friggin MESS in there and alot of us drove 1 hour or farther in HEAVY traffic AND with higher gas prices.. then we sat by our cars for 25 minutes.. then walked to the gates and stood for an hour.. then got in side and mingled for 10 minutes and THEN where told that Prince was NOT going on..... mad
I am SURE he knew before that how he felt (injury or Illness) and the venue should of made him say one way or another BEFORE all the people came in and parked.. (they could of told you the news right where you pay for your parking and had you leave..... eek }
It was a LONG hectic mess getting out of the parking lot and ruined the whole night!!! neutral
Again, NOT saying I am mad at Prince for being sick or hurt... hell, things happen.. But most people at the All State Arena said this happened EARLIER in the night..... So why not let people know sooner..... (sigh)
Just my 2 cents worth..... sad

PS hopefully he WILL do the shows on Monday ~ Wednesday..... BUT if he strained his vocal cords they MIGHT not be ok that soon..... OR if he hurt his ankle or something it may not be healed by Monday.
I just hope he lets us know BEFORE we all take off work early, pay for gas and toles and drive up there..... sad

Man, you know...sometimes shit happens, and you can't pencil it in to happen at the best possible time.

When we got to Allstate, the story was that his throat was messed up. Didn't hear about any hospital drama, no other stories to the contrary. Let's not go crazy with rumors just yet if we can help it, mmkay?

And I gotta say, as good as the show was last night, I do remember thinking to myself that he was a little raspy/froggy there near the end, and I thought it was kinda unusual, because I've never heard his voice sound anything but pitch perfect and clear as a bell.

With a voice like that, you gotta do what your body tells you, cuz there's no faking it with some of those songs. If one missed night means three more nights of top-notch shows, then, well...sigh

SO did people have to pay $15 for parking only to then have to turn around and leave? Dang, that sucks. What a ripoff.

Sorry, not trying to start rumors, just reporting what was posted on NPGMC as what was heard on the news in Chicago. wink

That's cool...we were listening to 93.1FM on the way back from Allstate and they didn't even know half of the info we got just from what the Allstate staff barked at us tonight. If I woulda had the station's number, I woulda called them on my cell and given them the scoop, but ah well, what can ya do... sad

It's cool to share what ya heard...but you know how these things can get started on the ol' Intraweb...one moment he's straining his vocal cords, the next moment he's getting another rib removed. nuts

sad Bummer for you Chitown fans, hope it's no more serious than NPGMC says...this is for y'all and for Prince: comfort

P.S. Glad to hear he might be spending his time wisely (by going to see Farenheit 9/11) nod

Parking WAS refunded.... but you had to wait in a LONG ASS line for your $15 back..... It was a mess getting out of the parking lot and from the area.... A lot of fans that I talked to were pissed..... not at Prince canceling.. but at how long they waited to tell us..... sad
Some fans were walking and driving in to the Center and waved at us and asked "what was up"?
And we told them the show was canceled.. .they were not real happy...
I just hope Prince is resting and not over doing it today.....

In my experience, if the venue waited that long to cancel the show it means they waited until the artist exhausted every possible method of recovery or bandaid. It doesn't mean they were being inconsiderate, it just means they were hoping to the very last minute that he could go on. If reports are true that he went to the hospital, then there's your answer.

You cant help the unexpected. Remember, this is a guy where the show must go on.. and it must've been bad enough that he just SHOULDNT and rightly so, gone on.

Yes, the remaining shows are cancelled due to death in John Blackwell's family. I was at the first show in Chicago and Prince really rocked the house. I understand why he got a sore throat because he put on a great show!!!! My prayers are with John and his family.
