I Got on Stage in Bossier City and Lived to Tell About It (kinda long)

My odyssey began in Dallas. Me and my homegirl just knew we were getting on stage that night. So we plotted and schemed, all to no avail. Turns out we were on the opposite side of the stage from where they pick most of the girls and take them up.

However, we were right next to Mike Scott most of the night and got a chance to analyze the getting on stage process. More importantly the Dallas show was off the chain and better than the April show (if that's possible).

Mike spoke to us several times and Prince sang, pointed, and laughed at us all night. At the end of the show Mike shook our hands and gave her his guitar pick. I met the guy that picks the girls and introduced myself. I told him I was going to be in BC the next night and I needed to be on stage. He laughed at me and said he'd see me tomorrow night.

The next day in Bossier City, as I was scoping out the joint, I hear somebody call my name. I turn around and see Tour Guy. Who remembered me and told me I was looking Bootyfull. How sweet! I show him where I'm sitting and he says he'll be back later.

During the show, (which although shorter than Dallas I thought was much better because he did more obscure songs than the usual and did Sweet Thing acoustically, which kills me) Tour Guy gets me and puts me at the front of the line of girls waiting to get on stage. Now I'm scurrrrred, but I try to suck it up.

After a wait that seems like an eternity, they open the gate and we shoot out like a herd of cows. But much cuter of course, and on stilettos. As soon as I get on stage, Prince grins and looks at me like "Didn't I see you last night?" He dances by me laughing and shaking his head.

I was dancing by Mike Scott and he actually said, "Girl, what are you doing here???" I reminded him that he gave my girl a guitar pick the night before and asked for a pick. He was nice enough to give me the one he was playing with. (I also got one of Prince's picks and a drumstick from John B.)

The time on stage went by like a dream. I don't know how the band does what they do night after night under those lights. I was sweating like a pig after 1 minute, not cute.

I danced my tail off, pulled out every ballet, jazz, tap class and drill team move I could think off. Which added to me sweating like a pig but I didn't care. Looking back, it must have been a form of Holy Ghost cuz I don't know how I didn't pass out.

Mike was hollerin' at me "Go on, girl!" Which added to my euphoria. Prince kept walking by checking out what I was working with and laughing. I'm not sure if that's good or not. At one point I turned around and he was right behind me nodding his head. I thought I was gonna die, but played it off.

When it was time to get off, a hand was reaching up to help me down, I took it, looked up and saw the legendary Maceo Parker smiling at me telling me I looked great up there. You better stop, Daddy! You gon' make me blush! (If you know how dark I am, that's a feat indeed!)

Then Tour Guy came up to me with more compliments. You better stop it! But I'll see ya in New Orleans and Houston!!! Hook a sista up, again. (The power of the booty is a wonderful thing, but you must wield it carefully. wink )

All in all a great experience and wonderful reward after all these years of supporting the man. The music is the cake, but getting on stage was definitely the ice cream I'll never forget.

Thanks for a great night and wonderful memory! lol
