My son's first Prince concert was a GREAT one!

I took my son to the Monday night Palace concert...he's 8 years old, and LOVES
Musicology, the CD.
The night started off right when we got our tickets....SECOND ROW!!!
He gave me a HIGH FIVE, and off we went to buy his T-shirt...
As soon as we got our shirts, we hear the crowd screaming, so we head down
to our seats...It was funny for me to watch him dancing to Musicology, the song,
while we're heading down the stairs...lol

Our WAY TOO STRICT usher told me that my son (who's a SHORT 8) couldn't stand
on his seat for the concert. mad He couldn't see anything by standing on the
ground...so i picked him up and threw him on my shoulders for most of the concert.
(that's 65 extra pounds, but it didn't stop me from gettin' my swerve on!)

By my count, Prince smiled and acknowledged my son at least 4 times...really
making my sons day. thumbs up!
We were lucky enough to get seats by where the band goes under to change.
This enabled us to give John Blackwell a pat on the back as he was going by us.
John shook my son's hand, and came back with a pair of drumsticks for my son!
Wow...bonus!

So, we're still dancing...dancing jig

Candy waves and winks to him...he's geeked over this too...wink

As the band leaves for a final time, we shake Maceo's hand, and Candy walks
by us and calls my son over to her...she hands him a prince tamborine!
Wow...that was extra special!

He couldn't stop singing their praises all the way home...
This crew has YET ANOTHER lifelong fan...

My thanks to Prince and the Band for being so kind...and FUNKY!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Thanks PurpleCharm...I hope your toe feels better.

Traffic was a NIGHTMARE tonight...as i said, we JUST got there on time.
My wife called me and told me that there was an accident on Lapeer road,
right around the start of the concert...bad one too, a 30 year old man died.
It's terrible, but I pray it isn't concert related...

A2grafix and I were sitting just a few seats away from Revolution and his son...Nick was SO cute...I looked over at him at the beginning of the show and his mouth was just hanging open in amazement. Then he came over to say hi to us and I asked him what his favorite part of the concert was so far and he said "Musicology" smile I couldn't believe that he even knew what the song was called...lol...
I really think that he is going to remember this night for the rest of his life. John, you're such a great dad for sharing this with him smile

Now, I have to explain to him not to expect this EVERYTIME! lol

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'm so glad your son enjoyed the show and it sounds as though you enjoyed it too for more reasons than just the music. Tell your son to never give up on Prince and to always enjoy the music and to remember what a genius Prince is.
