Now, maybe it's just because I have never been to an aftershow, and I had never been to Paisley Park, but unlike some other reports I am hearing, I thought the Friday night aftershow kicked major azz. I went to the Thursday aftershow, and was disappointed, because I didn't pay to watch 50 dancing fools obscure my view of Prince for 45 minutes, but that's what I got. (Sorry if any of those dancing fools are reading this-nothing personal ). But, I was still pretty happy because I was pressed against the stage and I had never seen the man so close before. He is so tiny and cute. And that noggin.... wow. I always just thought his hats were too big.

Anyway, it seemed that on that Thursday aftershow everybody was all perturbed because of problems with the sound, and I could see Prince reading the riot act to his guitar tech (Takumi? is that his name) off to the side. Well, the rest of the band didn't seem preturbed, they just seemed tired. Just prince and the roadies/techs/whatever look displeased. As I mentioned before I have never been to any and since I drove so far and spent so much to do it, I figured I should at least get the whole "waiting in line experience" on Friday night. So, I did that, and I thought it was a very cool experience. There's nothing like standing outside at Paisley Park jamming to the DJ playing "Paisley Park." I thought that was just as much fun as the rest (well almost). So anyway, we got in the soundstage to wait some more, and on Friday night I am also on the front row standing almost center stage. That Blackshire guy comes on, and I thought he was okay-but it's hard to be enthusiastic about these people you have never heard of when you are waiting for Prince to show up (also, somebody please give that Blackshire man his kid back-he misses her- if you were there you know what I am talking about).

Anway, I notice Larry Graham getting his bass all hooked up off to the side of the stage, and I take a good look at the guy hooking him up- and I realize it's Prince. Then I see him having more beef with the techs/roadies/whatever, and I start to think here we go with this again. But, it didn't turn out that way at all. In fact, I knew it was going to be a good night when I checked out the cheat sheet easel and saw that he would probably be singing, Girls and Boys and Something in the Water. I didn't even mind when the other band members did their solos. I mean damn, it is Maceo we are talking about here (among others). Hell, I didn't even mind Larry Graham and that crazy wife of his with the towel (did anybody peep out her feet by the way? ). But the best part for me, was when Prince asked me to come up on stage and dance with him during Chance's rendition of Knock on Wood. I absolutely refused to go, and after a minute he pretended to cry. My friends at home all now call me a punk beeyotch (even my momma did). Oh well, I was just thrilled to be asked. And I mean thrilled. And finally, to top it all of, he sang Adore. Dayum. There's just nothing else to say.

We talked on Friday before the show during lunch and she told me she would get on stage with Prince if he asked. Then when he did, she chickened out. Everyone told her to go, go, go, but she didn't.

Prince even did a little fake cry and she still wouldn't go.

I'm not calling you a punk, because you a beautiful person, but do that "ish" again and you're gonna get the . (Remember, we did discuss the Black Album)

I'm glad you had a great time out there. I wished you'd gone up there but at least you have a great attitude about it. Most people would be sulking in your position, so I gotta give you props for that.
