Concord Pavillion Poor Choice for Bay Area Tour

I just need to vent Y’all. Is it just me? How is Prince going to do his highly anticipated One Night Alone Tour at Concord of all places? The tour name hints at some intimacy and Concord is anything but! Not only that but it’s cold and the curfew is crappy with an 11:00 cut off. So, why exactly would I pay $125 (I’m guessing that this is the price) for this? I’m more tempted to go to LA and/ or Las Vegas because I just know that they’ll be better shows.
Why Concord I ask?! Concord isn’t even a main Bay Area city! No offense to the wonderful people of Concord but I’m just sayin’. It would make much more sense to do an Oakland show. Of course I live in Oakland, but that’s not the point! One Night Alone should be at the Oakland Paramount Theater…And it wouldn't hurt if he gave us TWO NIGHTS ALONE...
Thanks for letting me vent.
Peace, Coolness and STYLE!

go on girrr!!! i gotta agree..i have never liked this venue for a show. the accustics leave something to be desired and it is a crap of a drive. I live in Pleasanton (which is pretty close)...and i still hate heading up them darn winding roads....i fear for all you freaks that live in oakland, sf and san jose....after a night of dancing..you all gonna have a drive. smile

No hookin' KIDDING! It's redneckville out there (no offense to y'all, but there HAVE been cross-burnings). And the traffic jam leaving is awful, and we'll want to hurry back to the city for the aftershow....AND it's a Friday night, so the traffic going over there will be bad.

I got a headache. Prince, you got something for my headache?????

You know you are right! The worst shows we've had were at the Concord, because they always started late, or the stupid curfew. Oakland would be cool, since it's a smaller venue and more intimate. Isn't that where Jill Scott played recently? Even the Shoreline Amphi (it's a beautiful venue too) has much better sound than the Concord Pavillion.

I understand all your pain people but,I myself don't personally mind at all.Just as long as were together everythings all right ! Tequila will warm you if you get that cold there. That always works for me and if your gettin' your groove on ! .....that usually does it for me as well.I like the fact that it is seated also and I won't have to fight with people for my spot in front I waited long and hard for !!!!!

i wanted to also say that the parkng is a FREEKING joke,
we spent so long waiting to get out of there crazy lot and down the street to the freeway that was the only time we didnt attend the after party in sf,
when its at oakland, shoreline its so easy to jet to sf the party there are alot of diffrent ways to get there, vs the only one way out at concord.
and i had great seats at teh concord show..2 row at this last show.... but honestly it was less of a hassel when we went to the other shows at the other venues.. maybe we can send letters to the park on this issue.

I guess I am the only one who is kinda cool with the idea about this venue. I like the Pavillion. Yes it does suck cause it's sorta in the middle of nowhere but I like the venue itself. And b4 yall complain so much about the parking do remember that this is the only place I can think of that has FREE parking!!! I'll walk a few extra yards rather pay $10- $15 to park somewhere. THe curfew does suck and I hope Prince doesn't have an opening act to take up more time. Also whoever made the comment about Concord being "redneckville", that is just plain ignorant and I'm not even gonna waste my time by commenting more on that.....Bottom line folks, Prince is coming to the bay....be *HAPPY*.....live4love 4 without love u do not live.....

the paramount in oakland would be perfect. i live down the block from it. no having to look for parking, just take the 4 minute walk to the venue. that'd be great smile

Eye totally agree, y did they pick the Concord Pavilion? eye have seen him there b4 and it's not very intimate, however the seats in the front section are not that bad. If he wanted 2 do an intimate show, he should have went back 2 the San Jose State Convention Center, that place is cool and very intimate. Who knows, mayb P will add another show somewhere else in the bay.

A perfect venue would be the San Jose Compaq Center. This is probably the newest concert venue in the Bay Area (it was built in the late 80s),and Prince has never played here before,so it would be exciting to see him here. But the best part is,it's only a few minutes from my home....lol...smile

The other perfect choice would be Shoreline Amphitheatre. That place is ALOT of fun! Prince performed here in October 1997,and it was one of the best shows he ever did in this area.
