3/2 Chicago notes...

I attended the 3/2 Chicago show. The set list was basically the same as the Saginaw show so I won't repeat. When I entered, they had a booth set up for NPMC members could pick up afterparty Laminates. I was told it was for me and a guest(more on that later). ANyw2ay, they show started around 8:15 or so and went to nearly 11. At first, I didn't know what to think about the new band- no backup singer(Kip or morris). and only 3 bandmates( 2 horn players, 1 being Maceo). I was pleaseantly surprised. Early in the show, Prince stated "If you are here to get your Purple Rain on, it's not that type of party". He also spoke about how ther word "Format" was created by these Radio Stations. Befeore he sang " When U were mine" He said, "What's wrong, Black people like Rock N Roll too. I defy any black man to sit through this next song". This older guy came on stage and worked it out. P was like "See!!" That was funny!!!

Lastly, I was concerned to see how a major market like ours would accept no Purple Rain, especially since our stations play no new music of his, but the crowd was very loud and happy. I like Anna Stesia but thought he could have had a better closer, but it was cool and accepted.

A very entertaining, refreshing show.

By the way, he showed up at the afterparty for like 10 min and left. thry charged $30, 1 person free with the laminate.
Cuz ain't nobody bad...Like Me!!!!
