CHICAGO - Sat 3/2 Just a quick note on the first chicago show, since none have been posted. Doors opened at 7p to the venue, actual seating started around 7:20p. While waiting for the show to start, jazz was softly playin in house. About 8:15 "The Rainbow Children" started with the house lights still on. Maceo made his way up the center aisle from the back and the place went nuts.... As he neared the stage, the lights dropped and the curtain rose to Prince standing at the mic deep voicin the opening to TRC.
The set list was the same as posted in the Saginaw show review - so I won't repeat it. Band was Xtremely tight - EXCELLENT show. There was alot of interplay and P pointing out solos and changes. HIGHLIGHTS: During Muse 2 the Pharoah, P says: "Those of U lookin for Purple Rain, this ain't that type of party. This is 2002, or so they tell me. We're movin forward." P went into the crowd to dance with a "tight lipped" girl who wouldn't sing. "We're takin care of everybody tonite." Strange Relationship was Amazing... As was I Love U But... Overall the crowd was amazingly receptive, considering the lack of hits - I heard no complaints during or after. Look for me at columbus, louisville and indy! pd

People around me were complaining nonstop. This loud woman behind me kept telling her friends very loudly that she had "wanted him to wear those pants with the cheeks out. I wanna see your cheeks Prince!" I heard lots of grumbling about songs on the way out too... I enjoyed it though! Great show!
