UK gigs 2004

I work in the ticketing business and know some information/rumours about the UK Musicology tour. The promoters are well known (although I'm not naming them). There will be 3 nights at Wembley Arena (2 definite and 1 pencilled in to go on sale depending on how the first 2 sell) and at least one at the MEN arena and a Birmingham venue. A date at the Glasgow SECC has been talked about but I don't know any more for this venue.

The tickets will be in 2 categories - gold seating and normal - so there will be 2 price levels. I've been told from a reliable source that the gigs will be on sale within two weeks but these onsale dates change all the time but just be prepared. I don't know exact dates for the gigs but I've been told November is likely. I've also heard that he's checked out the Astoria for a gig - maybe an aftershow as he has played there before.

That's it but I'll post any more news if I get it.

And to prove I'm in the business check this out - on Monday 17th Madonna will announce a gig at the MEN arena which will go on sale on Friday 21st.

God, I love my job!!

NOVEMBER!!!! In the UK? Ohhhhh!!!! If Prince performs in London on November 19 or anywhere on November 19, I'm doing my best to get there. I request London because that's my home away from home (Chicago).

This is awesome news. I just hope I have the money when the tickets go on sale. biggrin

Now I'm a little paranoid. I will do my best not to stress out about Prince in Europe in November. I am trying to see the man in Japan.

God should hook me up with winning the lotto.

i would imagine 'gold' seating will be the front few blocks surrounding the stage (assuming it is in 'the round'...

any idea as to prices???

Looks like purplegiraffe was right about Madonna annoucing a gig, there's a picture of her on the front of the Manchester Evening News today. Lets hope It'll be a picture of P in a couple of weeks announcing tour dates for the MEN arena.

Well Madonna's confirmed for the MEN in August so thats excellent news. If Prince comes in the autumn that will pretty much make my year. Things are looking a lot better tha they were at the start of the day.

Thats quite a scoop for the MEN arena , both Madonna & Prince playing the venue. This will only serve to boost its reputation futher and hopefully attract more and more top acts. Apparently it is the busiest concert venue in the world, or something like that.

No more definite news but the same source for my previous info has said that it is 99% certain that the gigs will go onsale on Friday 28th May. Personally I'd be surprised if this turned out to be true but as I said before just be prepared. Most major onsales are on Fridays so I'd guess that the NPGMC onsale would be the day before the general onsale but who knows?? Madonna was going to announce an extra gig at Earls Court and Wembley with confirmed announcement and onsale dates in April, and even ticket allocations arranged, weeks in advance but this was pulled at the last minute so be warned that what I'm saying may not happen exactly as stated. These big tours always have vague info then suddenly explode with details.

Apparently Prince personally chose not to deal with the biggest promoter around (should be fairly obvious who they are) because he doesn't like them. The promoter for the UK tour was signed up in February and I know this for definite. When you work with a smaller promoter things tend to slow down and the allocation of tickets (who actually will sell the majority of them) is being argued about now.

As promised I'll post any more info I get. But you can still get a little excited...

Cool! Keep the info coming - even if it turns out to be false hehe.

May 28th is indeed very doubtful, unless the NPGMC announces the dates and presales in the coming few days.

Do you have any info on non-UK European dates?

And nothing someone with an eighth of a brain couldn't have made up. According to that Japanese TV interview you can watch on here, Prince says that he'll be playing the Far East next.

Rrrright. He said the exact same thing in an interview with German TV a couple of weeks back, only that he was coming to Germany next... you get the picture.

I knew the discussion would come to this, basically he said he will play Japan AFTER the US tour, not next. Any date he plays outside of the US must be AFTER the US leg but saying that does not mean it is necessarily the NEXT venue he plays at. I still think its Europe in October/November.

All I'm passing on to you is the sketchy rumours/gossip/info from within the ticketing business and have made it quite clear that what I'm saying may be not be 100% accurate. I've even proved that I work within the industry with the advance info on Madonna in Manchester so to be accused of being stupid and making this up by one of the previous posts is insulting. I've been a Prince fan since 1988 and have seen him in concert 35 times from Paris to the Glasgow Garage so I'm not making anything up. I'm as big a fan as anyone reading this so Mr Shapeshifter if you think I'm lying then, well, I'm not really bothered what you think. Maybe if I had more than one eighth of a brain as you said I'd be bothered. And please don't reply as I'll just ignore it.

To everyone else reading this I say that I will most likely find out details of the tour before it's made public and I'll post details as promised if I get any more news. I'm as excited as you about the gigs!

So no tix today then?

I don't want to piss on anyone's bonfire but I'm sure the onsale date will be widely promoted so that the concerts can sell out within a couple of hours. This is what happened with the Chili Peppers Hyde Park gig (James Brown supporting btw!), Madonna, David Bowie, etc. All the big names want to sell out right away so they can squeeze in a couple of extra dates, plus it's good for their egos.

I don't doubt your industry connections purplegiraffe, I think it's great that you are able to give us the scoop but it does look like this won't go onsale for another week or so at least. But thanks for the heads up.
