The Prince Conversion Project (man I hope this works)

Dateline: June 10th, 2004

Project Date: June 17th, 2004

Site: Excel Energy Center, St. Paul Minnesota

Subject: The future Mrs.

Detail: I have exactly one week before the June 17th show. This will be my first Prince show since his "Rainbow Children" 2 day show at the X. I've been a P fan since Jr. High School (Early-Mid 80's) and ny new bride to be(July 10th wedding) has never been to a Prince show. She likes some of his stuff, but it's just the stuff the average non Prince fan would like (Kiss, Cream, etc). She always talk about how he looks "Faggaty, or Funnystyle" I don't say anything because that's my boy and I know he's da man so I just leave it at that. Anyway, she will be coming with me to show next week and I hope he simply blows her away with his live music. If there wee any concert that can convert her, this should be the one. This is also the first show that I'm going to as a NPGMC member, so we'll be right with all you fine ass people. By concerts end, I want her to go home and just tear into all my Prince stuff, the CD's, the DVD's, the Videos in order to catch up on all the good shit she missed. I'm just letting the music speak for itself.

Actually I pray that she even get a chance to dance on stage, I'm sure that'll do the trick. We'll see how it goes.

Wish a brutha luck.

trying to convert people to be Prince fans is usually a waste of time. If they don't already "get it", they probably will never understand.

Co-Sign. Prince is not for everybody and that's OK. To each their own. I would only leave her at the alter if she didn't have passion for SOME music. That is non-negotiable for me. But a given artist... to each their own.

Its not like Prince hasn't done TONS of things that could potentially alienate people!!

Jeez! I knew that somehow this would get ugly! Anyway, I hope your plan works and that she gets an opportunity to fully appreciate this consummate performer. I won't 'dis her the way the above-posted Org-er did (in fact, I wish you both much wedded bliss), but I am a little dissapointed that she would describe him (or ANYBODY for that matter) as "faggoty". Sad that in 2004 we still haven't gotten beyond the kind of hatred and biggotry that Prince so valiantly tries to educate us against in his music and personna. Tell her that school is in. With any luck maybe Prince will be able to teach her a much-needed lesson in tolerance...much love. ! "Sin"cerely ~ Syren!

Billy,

This is how she will convert if you do as I say (a woman's point of view).

When Prince starts to play 'On The Couch,' put one arm around her shoulder and twirl her hair and with your fingers, Cross your leg towards hers and put your hand on her thigh gently stroking up and down. When she looks at you, smile, a wicked smile that says, "After this concert, you're going to get the loving of a lifetime." Gently kiss her (no tongue, you are teasing the woman at this point), turn towards Prince and start singing along with the song, but continue to stroke her. After the song is over, cheer and clap and say, "Thank You Prince For Tonight." Sit down and grab her hand.

John Blackwell (Prince's drummer) is usually in the audience before the concert so talk to him as well. Get him to give your fiance a drum stick after the gig or before. Talk to him like you're a musician and how the rhythm section (drums and bass) makes a song a song.

Enjoy, the concert and the conversion.

It's always tricky.
My girlfriend developed a stomach ache at the concert so she wouldn't have to love Prince.
