I don't mean 2 stir up shit or anything, but ehm

seems like once again some changes have been made in what cds will be released.

Unless I am mistaken, fcuz. Perhaps they'll still release the albums "Witness 4 The Prosecution" & "Madrid 2 Chicago" and these 2 albums "Last December" and "Best of 0(+>" are just yet 2 new ones.

Sure hope so. We'll just wait and C.

Btw. The show sounds pretty good so far!!!!!

Sounds like a great gig.

I think it's great that he's playing new stuff, but I'd be happy if he just came to cold, rainy Scotland and played anything.

Anything I tell ya!

Michael Hogberg, finally we get the tracklist of our dreams!!
So great to see a setlist without the hits (and it seems that Raspberry Beret was not edited - I always thought that editing songs was the worst kind of censorship). I am so curious to listen to Xenophobia...

He has 2 realise that these songs are and forever will B classics that people want 2 hear, U can never get bored of them live. Hope the set changes when he comes 2 Europe.

Well, I'm a fan of the man's music and I'm able to go to 16 of the others shows for free and I'll go even though I don't have real high expectations of the tour...

Okay, so you didn't steal the tourbook (I said "probably" didn't I?) & you "got" the soundboard, but won't bootleg it yourself (rolleyes), fine.

I still hate that your non-appreciative ass gets to go to 16, SIXTEEN shows for FREE & you don't give a flying fucking shit - calling him a geezer, saying it's boring. But that's what's wrong with the world today, injustice everywhere.

I still hate you... :O

Sorry, Hutchi, but it sounds like you've missed a few years worth of shows, especially last year's Hit N' Run tour. Perhaps you can pick up a copy of the Rave DVD and watch the excellent recent performance of"Purple Rain" a few more times.

Please understand, many of us also want to see and hear performances of NEW trax, like those from The Rainbow Children. Do you suppose you'll be satisfied with the seldom heard classic "AnnaStesia"?

No, everyone does not want to hear Purple Rain and When Doves Cry for the 60000th time. Matter of fact he can drop Take Me with You and Raspberry Beret too, and put something else from TRC or something from The Truth in their place.

If I get the opportunity to see this tour I hope the set list is the same as it is now, mostly new stuff or obscure
tracks.

Well, as somebody said, there are plenty of recordings of the Hit and Run tour. I even agree that Prince could play a classic song like Purple Rain, but I honestly dont think he plays the ´hits´ with the same soul as the time that they were created. The last good live version I heard from ´When doves cry´ was from the Nude Tour (Japan video). After that, all the attempts sounded tired, and not close to the hypnotic power of the album version. Other thing I always disliked about the Hits was that Prince edited them a lot. He only played a small part of it (the album version of ´Little Red Corvette´ is amazing, but I never saw a concert where he played the entire song. For me, it´s a worse kind of censorship than changing the cussing on the lyrics.
About the ´u can never get bored of them live´ I cant agree....Rave 2000 was boring as hell, and it had lots of hits. It´s cool that P is trying another setlist concentrating more on his musician side...smile
Speaking of which, the Xenophobia sample on the NPGMC site is VERY cool!!!!

Ifsixwuz9, Gustavo :
U have 2 understand that so many Fams (that COME ON the Org every day) have seen Prince Live once or twice... Or never sad and eye understand they want the Hits (Michael Bland told me a few months ago that Prince was playin' the Hits again cause he understood that's what Fams want ! don't U remember ONE year ago 'bout the comments here ? So many Fams were crazy 2 have seen the 'Shit and Run' Tour !)... What eye don't understand R Fams that R not objective : if Prince plays a Concert with only Hits or a Concert of this 2002 new Tour (with this amazing Set-list) they don't care ! IT's almost the same 2 them ! Prince is playing so the Concert is great ! in fact, eye really think that real Fams R... Objective Fams ! and eye'm sure everytime Fams (like in this Newz) will say : 'No more old Hits played 60000 times' IT will change something ! say IT loud !

This sounds like the concert that we have all been asking 4,4 years. No huge set with special effects and dancing girls (and boys) with virtualy nothing on. This is about the music. Whether we have heard the songs or not, if we listen to them, we may just enjoy them.razz

OK, here's the deal. I'm a UK based Fam, part of the NPGMC and hopeful (but not really expecting) for a UK Concert this year. I know what all you US fams went through when Prince stopped performing in the US and am desperate for a UK performance. To hear all the talk about whether it should be a hits based set list or not is really rubbing salt into the wound. I just want the opportunity to see him again!

(For the record, if he does perform here I'm hoping to see a mixture - say 3/4 new and 1/4 old - it's been too long since I've seen the old stuff and I would love to see Gold live again)

My fingers are crossed!

Orion

A great show last night in Saginaw, Michigan. I flew all the way from Baltimore, Maryland to be there. Casual fans or fans looking for the greatest hits review, don't bother to buy a ticket. The show had a very jazz influenced sound to it which I thought was great. You already know the set list from the earlier post. Prince used maybe 5 or six different guitars. One of which was the purple symbol guitar and one that looked like the 1999 era guitar(SEE THE 1999 VIDEO) He played guitar and/or piano/organ/keyboard depending on the track. I remember one song where he started out on keyboard then switched to guitar. I was happy to hear a lot of the Rainbow Children tracks. There were a few people that were angry because they didn't hear all the hits. To them I say, "too bad." For them, Prince was even kind enough to throw in full-length versions of Take Me with U, Raspberry beret, and When U were Mine, which shocked the hell out of me! But, they were still unappreciative though. A few idiots even booed because they didn't hear Purple Rain and 1999. I couldn't beieve such disrespect! Highlights for me were 1+1+1= 3( so funky!), the Santana medley, Xenophobia, Anna Stesia,Muse 2 the Pharoh and I Love U, but I don't Trust U Anymore. It was also fun to hear him do the Ohio Players classic Roller Coaster. Prince gave nummerous solos to band members especially Maceo. Rhonda most of the time played a stand up type bass. She switched to her traditional bass guitar for some of the funkier tunes. There were no dancers (or dancing from Prince), no rappers, no special effects, Just good music all around. Prince kept on the same outfit the entire show. It was black with red on one end of the right sleeve and he wore red boots. Prince talked a little during the show, mentioning that the radio stations in MSP suck. A few times, calling out, "we're just jammin' ya'll" as he and the band went to work. I'm so glad Prince doesn't feel obligated to still sing tunes like When Doves cry and Purple Rain almost 20 years after the fact. Go see this show if you appreaciate good music and good musicianship. If you are looking for a big time stroll down memory lane, don't bother. Leave the ticket for someone who'd really enjoy this kind of show. Bravo, Prince. Keep doing your thing, man. Peace, Orion
